Commercial Description:
Summit Extra Pale Ale is not a beer brewed only for beer snobs. Just the opposite. It’s a beer for everyone to enjoy: construction workers, stock brokers, farmers, sales people, clerks, teachers, lawyers, doctors, even other brewers. Its light bronze color and distinctly hoppy flavor have made it a favorite in St. Paul, Minneapolis and the rest of the Upper Midwest ever since we first brewed it back in 1986.

Bronze pour. Light cloud. Small white head. Smells like a alfalfa field (I’m from Wisconsin). First taste: major hops that quickly subside. Very drinkable. Slightly sour initially, then sweet, and lastly bitter from the heavy hops. Tasting some banana (bananas foster sweet). Doughy finish. This is a local favorite. It’s under-rated as others have pointed out. I think there is a lot I am missing w/ this beer. Try to get one.

Sampler pack from Woodman’s Oak Creek. WOW if you are a hop head this one is for you. Nice bold hop flavor and malt on the end. Terrific aroma.

Just now getting around to rating in for this after having put a fair few under my belt. Seems like the ubiquitous MInnesota beer. What I’m stuck buying on a sunday...and that’s ok. Pours a dark copper with a light white head. Medium malt aroma with toasty caramel and a nice floral-pine hop. Flavour is very hop forward though not overwhelming. solid malt body propping up a more citrusy hop flavour . Well balanced, a flavourful session ale.

22 oz. bomber courtesy of thebeardedbrewer. Pours a dark copper with an off-white head, about one finger, that dissipates fairly quickly to a white film, but leaves some decent lacing. Caramel nose with some floral and piny hope notes. Flavor is dominated by moderate hop bitterness with significant notes of piny and floral hop flavor. Moderately creamy mouth feel with medium carbonation. Bitter lingers well into the after with a mild earthy flavor. I have had this many times before during trips to MSP, and it is what I remember. A solid APA.

Pours opaque burnt orange with minimal off white head. Aroma is pleasant, nice caramel malty character with a hint of floral hops. Very well balanced flavor, malty and nutty with a nice hop presence at the finish, I only wish the flavor was a little stronger. Great smooth body with just the right bitterness, a very good beer.

Grabbed a bottle of this tonight. This is one of my normal beers in the fridge. Pours clear amber with a head that sticks around for most of the time its in the glass. Aroma is definitely malty with a good hops scent. Flavor was a caramel malt at beginning and floral hops at the end. Great combo and makes a very drinkable beer.

On tap at Bubba Gumps in the Mall of America. Pours a tranluscent amber with golden notes and smaller bubbly/creamy off white head. Aroma of caramel, toasted malts and a nice citrus/floral hop nose. Flavor of the same. A really nice caramel/toasted malt/nutty flavor balanced with a nice helping of American hops.

bottle. Pours a very nice rich dark golden color with slight orange hue to it. Pretty white head with excellent lacing down the entire glass. Very appealing nose on this beer. I get a lot of malt aromas and it has a bit of a sweet feel to it. Not a ton of hop presence in the nose. Wonderful balance of hops and malts! Just when you think this beer is going to be all hops the sweetness of the malts come in at the end and even everything out. It finishes very clean and leaves you wanting more! This beer is a sure fire winner.
