This is one of my favorite drinking beers. Appealing aroma, nice coppery hue to the pour, creamy white head (that doesn’t necessarily stick around though). It’s a wonderfully balanced beer (especially considering the depth of both malt and hop present) with a clean, dry finish. While not as hopped as many pale ales I enjoy, I find this beer is always drinkable in my book. jtw (943), farmington, Michigan, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 5, 2008 moderately balanced aroma of pale malt and resiny hops. orange-amber and lightly-carbonated, and beyond the aroma is a relatively mild brew, well-designed for easy drinking but it seems to avoid making a significant impression. medium bitter finish, nicely dry, and a pleasant, balanced aftertaste. certainly not bad! illinismitty (1800), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Bottle from Grimreeser. Pours a very translucent copper amber with a creamy, retentive off white head. Faint aroma of caramel malt and fruity esters. Medium to light bodied with some wateriness in the texture. Somewhat weak caramel and butterscotch malt profile countered by a simple fruity and herbal hop bitterness. Clean and mildly dry finish. Fairly average, but worth a try. There are nagging commercial qualities in this beer. clueo (112), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2007 A bit of a lemmon smell and a nice bronze color upon pour into a glass with a small head. This beer has a mild hoppy and fruity taste with a clean finish. A very drinkable pale ale. mistersinalin (378), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 12, 2007 I’ve had this at several locations in and around Minneapolis, largely due to the lack of additional options at each dining establishment. It pours with a crystal clear amber and a off-white head (very "fat tire" like). There is a sharp hop bitterness but without the flowery or citrus aromas. The hop bitterness stands alone with very little malty support to back it up. Leaves the mouth dry. prosqtor (408), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Just a bit too hoppy for me, and for most people, but this is a good APA. It needs balance with malt, or something, but if you’re looking for a crunchy beer this is it. Poured almost amber in color -- looked like an amber. maltdog (518), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 20, 2007 Bottle. Hazy orange-amber, not even remotely “pale”. Minimal bottle carbonation nevertheless produces a squat, persistent soapsud head and better than average lace. Overpowering butterscotch and caramel nose… faint undertones of sour grapefruit and old butter. Acidic and fruity flavor (apple, peach, blueberry), breadcrust, caramel, and a mild cumulative bitterness. Intermittent impression of milk chocolate. Slightly skunky despite never having seen more than ambient incandescent light. Medium body; oily, mouth-coating texture punctuated with stinging hops resins leaves a tacky-feeling tongue. Pleasantly dry and cleanly bitter aftertaste. The beer is better overall than any single element would indicate. Still, completely average.
