Commercial Description:
Summit Extra Pale Ale is not a beer brewed only for beer snobs. Just the opposite. It’s a beer for everyone to enjoy: construction workers, stock brokers, farmers, sales people, clerks, teachers, lawyers, doctors, even other brewers. Its light bronze color and distinctly hoppy flavor have made it a favorite in St. Paul, Minneapolis and the rest of the Upper Midwest ever since we first brewed it back in 1986.

Copper body with white head. Light lacing. Noticable hope flavor, Perhaps cascade? Slightly sweet and fruity, went down very nicely. Pairs well with a hot day like today.

This Extra Pale Ale is not so pale. Medium copper with a average white head. Some light sticky lacing as well. A nice looking pour. A decent mix of light hops and malts. Light fruits are more noticable as it warms a tad. A slightly dry and bitter finish. Pretty good overall.

Amber colour with a thin white head. The aroma is full citrussy hops and somewhat faint malty. The flavor is strong american hops with a nice crisp clean bite to them and a bit maltyness in the background. The finish is bitter, but in a very pleasent way.

On tap at Kieran’s Irish Pub, Minneapolis, June 2007. More amber colour than "extra pale", with a thin white head. Served icy cold, which worked very well on a sweltering day, but didn’t do much for the aroma although I did discern some leafy, flowery hop notes. The hop presence comes through quite nicely on the palate, with a sweetish, fruity character - more tropical than citrus, more pineapple than grapefruit. The mouthfeel was relatively soft but the overall impression was crisp and refreshing, with a touch of late bitterness. Seems pretty widely available in the region, presumably aiming to fill the SNPA sot locally, and does a pretty reasonable job, although it will never be a beer geek beer. I meant to rate it again and let it warm a little before drinking to see if anything more came through but somehow failed to do so.

A clean amber pour with white head that lasts forever. A good hop aroma and sweet malt as well. The flavor mirrors the aroma with malt and a very nice bittering finish. A clean crisp drinking beer with good carbonation. It is just a tad thin but I mean just a tad. About as solid a palate as I could expect from a PA. It’s just a little light on the hops but my palate could have been fried when these notes were made. I would like to try it again.

Poured from bottle a golden amber color with yellowish-white head. Aroma is grainy and malty, with hints of fruit. Medium body with a bitter hoppy and floral taste near the middle and back of palate. Dry, crisp hop finish with a lingering bitter aftertaste. Off the tap, it’s a bit more smooth and mellow.

Pours to a light copper color with thin white head that lingers awhile, then dissipated to a thin skim with little lacing. Aroma is a slightly stale fruit smell, blended with mild hops. Mouthfeel is tingly, but againm a little stale, and the flavor is a decent mixture of apples and floral hops. Finish is okay, but short. Not a bad beer, and one that one probably be good as a session beer on a warm day.

Extremely refreshing and crispy! Pours a light amber with a lacy head. Aroma of pine and citrus. Some mild caramel sweet malt up front that is immediately backed up by crisp hop bitterness.
