Commercial Description:
Summit Extra Pale Ale is not a beer brewed only for beer snobs. Just the opposite. It’s a beer for everyone to enjoy: construction workers, stock brokers, farmers, sales people, clerks, teachers, lawyers, doctors, even other brewers. Its light bronze color and distinctly hoppy flavor have made it a favorite in St. Paul, Minneapolis and the rest of the Upper Midwest ever since we first brewed it back in 1986.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear light amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Dreadfully boring rendition.

Bottled. Beer is clear, medium-amber colored with a small, white, fizzy, rapidly and totally diminishing head. The aroma is malty with light notes of toasted grain, moderate note of caramel; Hoppy with moderate notes of cedar, dried apricot, light note of resin/pine; Yeasty with a light note of dough, a trace of wet cement; perhaps a miscellaneous trace of diacetyl. The flavor is lightly sweet, lightly blooming up to moderately bitter, lightly acidic with a longish, lightly acidic, lightly bitter finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively. Eh.

12 oz bottle. Pours a golden amber with a fluffy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is earthy and grassy hops with a little fruitiniess.

The flavor is a little sweet fruity malts followed by a grassy bitterness. It has a bitter somewhat buttery finish. The mouthfeel is medium with some sharp carbonation.

Overall, a decent but rather pedestrian pale ale. I did like this better than their IPA - it was much better balanced.

12 oz. Bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a thick fluffy white head and sticky lacing. The aroma reveals sweet malt with citrus and herbal hints. The flavor is very balanced between the malt and hops. Very well made beer.

Pours amber with a thin head, moderate carbonation. Aroma is sweet, floral and bitter hops. Big bitter hops, resinous as well. Mild malts, caramel and light butter. Hints of ethanol. Finish is bitter, some noticable metallic taste.

On tap at some hoity-toity French restaurant in the Twin Cities. Served in a Pilsner glass but whatchoo gonna do. Beer is a crystal clear orangey-amber with moderate off-white head that never completely disappears. Nice lacing. Somewhat sweet aroma; maybe a hint of vanilla. First taste is caramel nut roll with a dash of vanilla. Surprisingly full taste. Light to medium mouthfeel with a slight bit of oiliness. Minimal hopping in the finish. Quite a good brew.

There is a light fruity aroma and a pour that is amber with a creamy off white head. Head duration is excellent with decent lacing. Flavor is mild with some caramel sweetness and a bit of hoppish bitterness but a faint finish.

Draft. Decent head with a sweet aroma. Head fades quickly. Flavor was good at first bu then mellows out as the beer winds down. Nothing too flavorful and just a decent beer.
