Commercial Description:
Summit Extra Pale Ale is not a beer brewed only for beer snobs. Just the opposite. It’s a beer for everyone to enjoy: construction workers, stock brokers, farmers, sales people, clerks, teachers, lawyers, doctors, even other brewers. Its light bronze color and distinctly hoppy flavor have made it a favorite in St. Paul, Minneapolis and the rest of the Upper Midwest ever since we first brewed it back in 1986.

Dark golden, slightly hazy, with a medium off-white pillowy head that is partially diminishing. Rich caramel nose, some moderate spruce, mild chocolate malts and the slightest roast. Flavor is mildly sweet initially, turning mild-to-moderately bitter. Very fine carbonation works fantastically. Finish is a touch cardboardy and only here could I detect any graininess. Solid.

Tap at MSP airport. Pale golden beer with a creamy white head. Aroma is a bit unusual. Sort of fruity with loads and loads of sweet apricot and light apple notes. Not really cidery though, just fruity. Light-bodied beer with a touch of sweet pale malt and a very light hoppiness. Apricot flavour on the back. I could see this being fairly appealing during the summer, but it’s a bit lighter and fruitier than I generally prefer.

Aroma with hints of biscuit malts, and a touch of hops. Pours a clear amber, with a dusting of white head. Predominantly biscuity malts in flavor, with a hint of bittering in the finish. Medium mouthfeel, and very drinkable.

Solid offering...golden pour with hints of tangerine at its core and a small ivory head. Aroma is bright citrus, pine, and caramel malt. Flavor also has a buttermilk biscuit quality. Medium mouthfeel. Not bad.

Pours clear medium amber with a 2 finger creamy off white head that has excellent retention. Aroma is caramel, dried leafs, pine hops, some citrus, some sweet grainy malts. Flavor is caramel, toasted french bread, pine and citrus hops, cereal grains burnt sugar and pale malts. Finish is caramel and pine with maybe a little corn and a mild bitterness. Palate is medium to thin thickness with a slightly oily feel and slightly too low carbonation. This stuff is pretty nice, it has been a while since I have had it but this seemed better than it used to.

Another find from my go-to beer enabler, Canals in Lawrenceville. Pours a light amber supporting a medium white head. Mild citrus aroma. Crisp biscuity flavor with a nice balance of malt and summery fruit. Refreshingly light texture and a very crisp and dry finish.
