Pours a hazy copper orange with a 1 1/2 finger staying beige head. Aroma of toasted malts, plastic, grain, and a bit of citrus. I don’t like the plastic. Flavor is kinda tangy with some citric and dirt bitterness, plastic again. Mildly bitter finish. Incredibly overcarbonated with a light to medium body. This was kinda sucky. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 7, 2007 Dark copper to light chestnut in color. Dark cream colored head that diminishes to a thin lid, with a nice coating of lace. Light woody licorice with dark caramel and chocolate in the aromas. Some hints of grassy hops as well in the nose. More a brown ale scent. Very smooth and drinkable. That said also quite bland in a way. Light caramel and a woody component, not sure if it creeps in from the malt or the hops. Fairly boring in a British sort of way. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Pours a clear deep reddish copper with about half an inch of light tan foam. Minimal head retention, but a foam ring provides decent enough webby lacing. Very slight aroma of sweet malt, you really have to look for it to find it.
I like the pronounced toasted malt flavor of this beer, both sweet and dry. Floral, slightly peppery hops for balance, flavor, and character. Medium body, mild carbonation. Very drinkable. Silphium (2137), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 7, 2006 Orange-brown body, thick light tan head. Effervescent carbonation. Hoppy nose, toasty, with hints of grapefruit peel. Grapefruity, citrusy body, actually a swirl of bitter and tart hops flavors greet the palate upon sipping the beer. Almost puckering. The finish is grassy and somewhat metallic, long and bitter. For some reason this has a grainy or gritty mouthfeel. It’s as if keeping this in the mouth for too long would allow the beer to crystalize. This beer is messy and unrefined. SledgeJr (2961), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 26, 2006 This was called Summit 20th Anniv. ESB. In the bottle at the HyVee Oktoberfest beer tasting in Council Bluffs. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with a tan head. Delicious strong aromatics. This seems like a bigger beer than the 5% ABV. The body finishes mild, but has a serious hop content at the end. It gets a bit grassy at mid palate. Ughsmash (4037), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 16, 2006 Bottled. Poured a clear, deeper shade of orange with a tall, long-lasting cap of fluffy beige head. Nose was geared toward lighter caramellized fruits with a heavy dose of floral hops.. leafy and woody notes.. toasty caramel and toffee sweetness. Flavor had zesty citrus, floral, and woody bitterness with primarily toffee maltage for support... more woody bitterness at the finish. Higher carbonation than necessary on the palate.. nice level of bitterness.. just felt OK. hayden1215 (305), Ohio, USA
