Commercial Description:
It is Summer time once again, and the inaugural brew in Summit’s Unchained series is about to be released. What better beer for hot summer weather than a Kölsch: light, balanced, crisp and refreshing with a slight fruitiness? Sounds good to me; that is why I was chosen to formulate the recipe for our version of this unique German ale style.

Not a big fan of this one. The aroma is too skunky. Grainy taste with a touch of funk. Meh

12oz bottle, thanks to bang for the extra. pours clear light gold color with white head. aroma has nice sweet grain, hay, with touch of grass and spice and white grape. flavors are sweet grainy, crisp spicy hop character, mild melon fruit rounding it off. to it as well. clean and a good example of the style.

BOTTLE: clear gold yellow pour, minimal to no head. Aroma is sweet - apple, honey, grain. Taste is malt, spice, a little syrupy, and a hop bite. Some overarching Kolsch funk to this as well.

Poured from bottle into new Summit glass. Bright, burnished gold with moderate head and nice lacing. Very active bubbles continue throughout. Aroma of semi-sweet malts with notes of apple and grass; fresh, spicy noble hops. Just slightly sweet apple, pear and fresh cut grass, countered by a nice level of spiciness. Ends primarily with a spicy hop bite. Make sure to drink this fresh, as I am sure the spiciness will fade. Moderately high carbonation, pretty smooth body, dry finish. Very refreshing but with a nice amount of flavor. Finally, a Kolsch I truly enjoy. I would prefer this year round over Summit’s Pilsener.

Bottle, pours a pale gold body with a quickly dissipating white head. Somewhat skunky/funky aroma along with malts and faint hops. Flavor is similar although with a nice hop bite up front. Light mouthfeel with a watery palate. Lightly carbonated with a very dry finish. I could see this as a decent session beer.

Poured golden with a medium white head. Light hoppy aroma. Taste has a nice malt base with floral hops present. Some bitterness. In general clean and easy drinking. Light beer with a little extra taste and bitterness. Solid summer session beer.

Golden amber with light, white head / Sweet, toasty corn and honey nose / Light to medium body, sweet and syrupy, modest carbonation, with dry and bitter finish / Flavors of toasted grain, grass, and honey / Lacking significant complexity, but good.

33 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA. Deep golden colour, minimal head and faint looking carbonation. Pleasant grain and citrus aroma, transfers to the flavor with some malt and caramel notes way in the background. Fruity and easy drinking, a good representation of the style.
