href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>piscator34, thanks Kris. Dark brown, near black in colour. Large lingering tan coloured head, lots of lace. The aroma had a light roast, some sweet malts, lightly chalky, smoke and coffee. The flavour had a great roasted maltiness, some hop bit balance, sharp, light coffee. Soft mouthfeel, lackluster body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes roasty with a medium lingering bitterness. Pretty good but its missing something. chimpscampee (566), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 4, 2006 The Summit Northern Porter pours a black color with a decent brown head. The aroma of coffee is immediately evident. The taste is mostly of coffee mixed with smokiness, and some bitterness in the end. Not a bad little porter at all. Reminds me of Fuller’s London Porter, but not that good. The mouthfeel is too thin, and the taste is too one dimensional." fly (1333), austin, Tejas, USA

Not a bad place, sunny side of the street, yo .. But as I’m no big porter man, what do I know? I know I like this just fine, but not a whole lot more. What I do like is Doug giving me beer even when I’m so stupid that I drink it all like a fish. Thanks to Charles too I suppose ... dxmnkd316 (3), Blaine, Minnesota, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2006 This one is tough to rate. It starts off very strong with the flavor of coffee but it was rather hard to finish. Oddly enough though, I kept going back to it. It was pretty good if you can get over the coffee flavor (which I’m a fan of). KSS (102), Plymouth, Minnesota, USA
