Commercial Description:
Summit Porter is very dark, but lighter-bodied than you’d expect, with a robust, malty character and a delightfully sweet finish.

Pours a dark brown with a creamy tan head. Malty nose with very little carbonation. Hints of coffee/chocolate and a malt taste

What a rich aroma. Smoky, really smoky aroma. Hmm, the flavor almost has a nut brown character to it; fairly malty. Pretty good.

12 ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine Tampa, FL for $1.34 in a 4-style sampler 12-pack. Very good!

Bottle from Beer Geek. Pours dark brown/black with a decent light tan head. Aromas of dark roast malt with coffee and chocolate. Rather full bodied with frothy carbonation. Flavor is coffee, dark roast/burnt malt and maybe a little chcoolate. The finish is slightly sweet. But the dark elements balance that. Not sure why this is perceived as thin by so many. Maybe cause it thins as the carbonation leaves?

33 cl bottle, Winnipeg, MB, Canada via Fargo. Almost opaque deep black/ruby colour. Roasted malt with an almost sweet berry background. Very nice sweet chocolate flavor with coco on the finish. A bit too sweet for me but nice for something produced on this scale.

The aroma is burnt and toasty with cream, coffee, and a hint of chocolate. The appearance is dark brown with a tan head. The flavor is burnt and bitter with all the elements from the aroma but the astringency is unforgivable. The palate is average to thin. Overall not a porter I want again.

Dark mahogany with big, foamy tan head / Toasty nose of roast barley, cigar box, and chocolate / Light to medium body, watery, with good balance and finish / Flavors of roast barley, unsweetened chocolate, dark roast coffee / The weak body is a major flaw, but corrected this would be a fine porter.

Roast. Chocolate. Bit thin in the body but most of the characteristics of the style.
