Jun 10, 2009 12 oz. bottle from my home stash that had been cellared for quite a while, to my trusty SA pint glass. Poured a dark brown with a slight ruby tone. The head was a foamy tan that diminished rather quickly to a bubbly layer, leaving a ring and spotty lacing. The aroma was roasted malt, nuts, a little caramel, along with some sweetness and chocolate. Maybe I should have just said turtle candy. In addition to these, the flavor added just a touch of smoke and enough bitterness and dryness to balance the malt. The body was medium, and the mouthfeel was pleasantly creamy. A Robust Porter that held up very well with time.

May 31, 2009 Sampled at the Summit tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 5/14/09. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Malty aroma, but not a lot of chocolate or coffee like you would expect in a porter. A bit more coffee and chocolate in the flavor, but it’s sorta thin.

May 29, 2009 On tap at Summit Brewery following a tour. Pours dark brown with a decent tan head. Aroma is not very strong, but what is there is mostly a weird chemically BBQ smell. Thankfully tastes much better- roasty malt, coffee, chocolate. Medium bodied with a roasty finish.

May 26, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice, dark black with a light beige head. Aroma is cigar wrapped chocolate powder, which makes for a nice sniffin’ session. Flavor is a rush of dark tobacco chocolate and a touch of brown sugar smoke. Nice mouthfeel. This is a pleasant surprise. I’ll drink this again.

May 21, 2009 Picked up at badger spirits in singles section this I believe is my 1st summit brew pour was dark brown and thin to meduim body with small tan headthat dissappates rather quickly,aromas are of coffee,roasted malts,and hops the taste is is of all of the above and has a slightly bitter finish not a bad porter just not a great 1

May 13, 2009 (bottle from Coaltrain Wine & Liquor in Colorado Springs). Pours a black color. Large tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Strong roasted malt flavor. Long duration. Slightly astringent finish. Full body. Thick texture. Good lacing. Moderate carbonation.

Apr 25, 2009 12oz shorty bottle. Black with some stained-glass red corners. Pleasant mild roasty aroma. Medium to light bodied, relatively thin. The taste and flavors are right on however. Middle of the spectrum chocolate malt flavors, with a nice balanced crispness. A touch sandy with a smooth caramel finish. Good stuff.

Mar 24, 2009 Bottle Pours a nice black with a small light tan creamy head. Lasts fairly well, and laces very well. Has a roasted caramel aroma with touches of chocolate and coffee. Has a good carbination and a good mouthfeel. Nice flavors. Has a real roasted taste. A light body and solid finish. This has a good complexity too it. Has a watery texture. This is a real good beer, a little on the weak side but real good.
