Commercial Description:
Summit Porter is very dark, but lighter-bodied than you’d expect, with a robust, malty character and a delightfully sweet finish.

light nutty roast on the first sip ... big hot coco head .. ... lacing is doing fine .. needs more dark roast, but has a crazy level of downability ... to thin to be a session because you would order ten of these and chug like the dickens .. not awfully complex or intricate but smooth and mildly enjoyable.. better than i excepted, slightly.. as i drink it i know on draft this must be awesome, and a true dream on nitro!

Almost black beer with a 1 inch tan head that doesnt last very long. Aroma of dark roasted malt and coffee. Flavor is very bitter, and very burnt dark roasted tasting. More like an imperial stout taste than a porter. Has a little too much bite. Heavy lacing. Burns going down.

Dark brown-black pour with a thick tan head. Aroma is deep chocolate and coffee roast malt, lighter burnt malt bitterness. Flavour is strong coffee, slight burnt malt bitterness again, bittersweet chocolate finish. A little thin in the finish but pleasant lingering dark roasted malt aftertaste.

Possibly my favorite in the summit lineup,. Pours a deep brown with an amber hue when held up to the light, a medium light tan head wit some retention. I like the aroma quite a bit, it’s earthy and has a very strong fresh coffee character with some interesting ash characteristics. Flavor follows with the coffee theme with some good fresh hop character. Very robust, a very nice roasty malt character dominates the flavor. Very enjoyable.

12 oz. bottle - Poured dark brown with small beige head. Aroma - burnt coffee, hazelnut and ashtray. Flavor - watered down black coffee and toasted malt. Tastes like I just smoked a cigarette. I also detected some mild chocolate taste in finish. Palate - very thin mouth feel with little carbonation. Finish is smokey a slightly dry and bitter. Overall - very light beer with easy drinkin taste. Not the greatest Porter but not that bad either!!

Smells of caramel, cola, and vanilla. Pours brown with little head. Rich, malty, nut taste but it has a light and sweet finish. It goes well with chili!

Pours a deep brown color with thin tannish head. Gobs of lace trickle down the glass as the brew is consumed. Aroma is of bitter chcoolate, roasted malt and a bit of milkl sugar. Taste is bitter chocolate, mild roasted malt, light coffee and some lactic acid. Finish isn’t bad except the lactic mouthfeel throws it off.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown with minimal tan head that looks a little sudsy. Aromas are roasty with little complexity. A little bit of cardboard chocolate mix and roasted malt is about all I’m picking up. Flavor is much more interesting and there are some pretty good undercurrents that compliment the roasted malt and chocolate overtones. While this certainly isn’t a heavy palate type of beer, there is a nice bitter side to the darkness and a little bit of prune fruitiness that works well here. Palate is a little thin, but fairly smooth. This is nice enough for a cold winter day session.
