Commercial Description:
Summit Hefe Weizen is brewed with a high percentage of malted wheat, then a small amount of authentic German weizen yeast is left behind to help maintain its brewery freshness. And that’s what accounts for Hefe Weizen’s unique cloudy appearance.

( 12oz bottle, courtesy of blutt59 ) Pours a clear yellow body with a medium white head. Aroma of banana, wheat, light lemon, and sulfur. Flavor of banana, sulfur, wheat, light lemon, and subtle wheat.

Looks like a typical macro oddly enough. Dark gold color in appearance. Some spice aroma, yeast and citrus. Flavor is similar; some spice and citrus with a barely detectable menthol/mint aftertaste on the tongue. Overall, this an average hefe in my opinion.

Tasted at Beer Dabbler event in St. Paul. For some reason I really like Hefe Weizen. This one just didn’t work for me. A bit too sweet, a bit too flowery, and especially a bit too mediciney, maybe even a copper taste like blood.

Plenty of pleasantries here, but there are plenty of things I don’t like as well. The beer pours a nice hazy yellow color with a big rocky white head. The aroma is spicy with some bananas and some good mineral qualities, there is a light fruitiness and breadiness, but despite all the aromas detected this is a pretty faint smelling beer. The flavor is at first of an odd mineral nature with some alcohol and iodine. There is a fair astringency here but there are nice flavors too like the banana and citrus and the hop bitterness shines through very well, the dominant flavors (which are the good ones) save this from being something I don’t like at all.

( 12oz bottle thanks to blutt59) Pours very clear pale yellow. Nose of wheat, spices. Taste is lager-like, spices, cloves, and I really don’t think it’s a hefeweizen.

Poured from bottle into water glass at work. Cloudy orange with a foamy head. Smell has some wheatiness with mild bananas and some cloves, but not enough for my liking. Taste of sweet wheat malt, with some bananas. Light hop spiciness at the end. The clove taste, while present, is way too mild. Seems halfway between a German Hefeweizen and an American Wheat. Moderate carbonation, fairly light and seems somewhat thin. Overall, very light and easy to drink, but also light on flavor. I prefer other Hefeweizens, including Schell’s, which is also local.

Bottle. Looks nice in the glass with a pleasant aroma that is slightly sweet. Smooth on the tongue with citrus undertones. Refreshing. Overall, pretty decent for the style.

Bottle: Pours a dusty golden/yellow color with a small, short lived white head. Very light aroma is wheat, cloves, yeast, and bananas. The flavor is deep in wheat tones with cloves, apples, cinnamon, and a little husky/bready thing in the end. Still finishes crisp and clean.
