Commercial Description:
Summit Hefe Weizen is brewed with a high percentage of malted wheat, then a small amount of authentic German weizen yeast is left behind to help maintain its brewery freshness. And that’s what accounts for Hefe Weizen’s unique cloudy appearance.

bottle - Pours slightly hazy yellow with a thin head. It has a light yeast aroma with a touch of citrus. The flavor and mouthfeel is pretty light as I’d expect for the style. There’s yeast, wheat, mild hops, and some very light citrus flavor. This one is a pretty mediocre hefeweizen.

Picked up single bottle at Formost Liquors in Chicago. Pours a clear golden pale honey yellow brew with a fast dissolving head to a fine film. Aroma of yeast, banana ester, lemon and a touch of cloves. Taste is medium/llight body, some carbonation, more citrus in taste than in aroma, with a smooth hoppy finish. Not your typical hazy colored Hefeweisen brew, but has the taste and character as one.

Bottle (12oz). Bubbly slightly pale gold with a small fizzy white head. Thick yeasty aroma of bready malt, lots of apricot, not so much banana - some peach, with floral hops. Taste is a little bland and disappointing, less fruit and body, a bit of sharp stale spice - very thin, weakly carbonated, slightly sharp mouthfeel. Loved the aroma though.

Pours a hazy straw-gold color with about an inch of white head. Nice and murky like a hefe should be. Decent lacing for the whole glass. I get a little bit of banana in the aroma, and a little bit of yeast. Typical wheat beer flavor (which is good - I’ve had some nasty ones). Bread dough, yeast, banana, and clove - but all very subtle. A little too subtle for me. Light body - again too light for me - and minimally carbonated. No citrus. I would have liked more body and less subtlety.

(Tap) Pours a hazy golden color with a small amount of head. Seems a bit muted in style compared to other hefeweizen beers. Refreshing, and smooth, yet somewhat lacking in the fruity/spicy charactor typical of the style. Not bad, but could have been a bit better...

Pours a traditional cloudy brown mug from a 12 oz bottle; very little remarkable about the pour with a very weak head. Flavor is somewhat sweet with a wheaty flavor. A good summer drink, and a overall quality hefe, but nothing to write home about
