Big bitter hop taste up front. A decent middle taste that has a nice red taste blended with a lot of hops. Interesting. BrewDad (2381), Olympia, Washington, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 29, 2009 Although this beer started out more hoppy than i expected, after a couple drinks the malt fought back and it achieved a kind of balance. Visually a very nice clean dark red. jimmbo123 (37), Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 27, 2009 I tried this at Oregon Brewer’s Festival 2009. At bit too hoppy for me, but good tasting hops, and very good quality otherwise. Tasted very similar to 2 others I tried: Double Mountain IRA & Boulder Beer Flashback Anniversary Ale. hellbilly (1566), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

pours a brilliant oxidized bronze/copper- orange- brownish-amber with a creamy yet frothy tan head and lots of lacing.
initial aroma is odd... coffee? toasted nuttiness? weird. not that it’s a bad thing and it never really goes away... it is just unusual. anyhoo, mix that into earthy spicy hops, brown sugar, pine, generic citrus pith, florals and just a hint of chocolate.
the flavor is surprisingly similar to the aroma with the chocolate and coffee tagging along (good, i’m not that crazy). it is dry throughout and fairly bitter (especially on the finish).
medium bodied with creamy carbonation and a soft mouth feel. this stuff is great with food. 7/4/7/3/15/3.6 Ughsmash (4094), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 25, 2009 Bottled. Poured near-clear medium orange with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasted caramel and bready notes, slightly candied, with spicy floral hoppage around.. just a pinch of citrus when you dig deep. The flavor had a sweet caramel base surrounded by a rather high level of bitterness around (mostly floral and citrus).. brown sugar and a faint hit of chocolate emerge with warmth.. finished spicy and quite bitter. Medium-bodied and again very bitter for an amber ale (not necessarily a bad thing, as most of my favorites from the style are hoppy).. a bit too sharp on the back. This was a solid brew that I’d probably drink again. Swalden28 (1531), McKinney, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2009 Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in Plano, TX. Pours a reddish/brown with off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, some fruit, pine, a little floral. Flavor of some malt, caramel, a little fruit, but the hops stand out, piney hops with nice bitterness. Mouth feel is light-medium body with high carbonation. Overall, a decent beer! Pretty hoppy amber..
