Commercial Description:
Horizon Red Ale – an emerging American hybrid ale that crosses the boundaries of styles. This red-hued ale projects an intensity of complex hops – yet allows the drinker to experience the balance and character of the malt. Floral, dry, hoppy and satisfying. Beautifully dry hopped, Horizon Red Ale will be considered a classic.

Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Clear nut brown, mid-sized head. Perfumy nose with roasty notes. Medium sweet with light-medium body and slick, well rounded mouthfeel. Slim and quafable. Salty perfumy hops on a distance, surfacing late to give balanced bitterness A pleasant if somewhat superficial beer.

Bottle… Clear copper ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The aroma is mostly of resin, but also offers lesser notes of grapefruit and caramel. Medium-bodied with sort of a buttery mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The flavor is mainly about bitter, resiny, citric hops. Any residual crystal and/or caramel malt sweetness is totally muted by the earthy, grapefruity lupulin. Tannic, bitter, dry finish.

Bright copper color with a smallish light beige head. Simply stated a hoppy amber aroma. Grass, grapefruit and caramel scents. Light caramel start, middle is filled with grapefruit and mild pine. Finish is fairly dry with a bit of pepper. Needs a little more malt depth for my taste buds, but quite good.

Bottle from belmont Party. Poured a clear reddish brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasted and had excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy malt and earthy hop aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex session brew.

Draft at Craft. Pours burnt sienna toward ruby with off-khaki head. Nose is caramel malt, red wine grapes, solid hops, citrus. Tastes malty, rich, nicely balanced, with good hop presence, fruit presence, and some peppery, piney notes as it warms. This one is very good.
