Summit does a nice job not caving in to the local fads like berry weiss. I’m glad they do an IPA, even if it could be improved on. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 31, 2008 Pours an orangeish amber colour with a medium sized head with a light floral aroma. Decent retention with a well balanced taste of hops and malts finishes slightly bitter. soulgrowl (52), Kitakyushu-shi, Japan
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 7, 2008 Aroma: Quite tart, with an interesting woody edge and a bit of diacetyl.
Appearance: A nice, sturdy, darkish amber, almost the same color as government-issued school-cafeteria maple syrup. Fluffy/lumpy off-white head, like the color of old piano keys.
Flavor: Quite nice. Hops are the dominant flavor from start to finish, as they should be. They are piney, a little grassy, and very sharp. Caramel malts peek through just enough to round out the flavor.
Palate: Pleasant! Lively carbonation punctuates the sassy hops perfectly.
Overall: Would make a fine session beer, and would match well with lighter fare (poultry, vegetables, etc.). Highly drinkable. unclemattie (2432), Georgia, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 19, 2008 Short 12oz twist-off bottle. Dark amber pour. Musty, woody, resiny aroma. Flavor is very bitter, some malts in there. Overly hopped for the amount of malt character. Which way did it go?? Metalhead (571), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 17, 2008 Gold pour , mild head.Lightly hopped and not as ballsy as some IPAs I have had. Fairly clean finish without much bite. Overall a nice priced session beer. $6.69 a six. tompete (72), Burlington, Iowa, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Nice amber color with a white, fast disappearing head and good lacing. Very light hoppy smell; is this an IPA? Light to moderate body with a too subtle malt presence. Harsh bitterness in the finish, but not too bitter. ChainGangGuy (2592), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 27, 2008 Appearance: Pours a hazy, dark amber body with a bubbly, white head.
Smell: Basic pale malts with just a faint kiss of caramel. Tired citrus fruits languish in the nose.
Taste: Pale maltiness, lightly sweet. The hops, with a taste of aged citrus, never really BRING the bitter. A few more sips, hoping they’ll pump it up, only to receive soem metallic hints. Very light bitterness on the all-too abrupt finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Slightly watery.
Drinkability: The IPA train is off the tracks!! Summit did a fine job derailing it. IlanMan (846), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Very well balanced aroma of fresh hops and a light woody character. Taste has medium bitterness with a good hint of toffee in the aftertaste. Also a medium malt bill. Almost tasted like a mix of a an IPA and a Scottish ale. May buy again as a regular.
