Commercial Description:
In keeping with tradition, our India Pale Ale has a distinctive – some might even say aggressive – hop flavor.

Approximately 4 oz. sample from a 12 oz. bottle at an American IPA tasting hosted by tennisjoel. This was the seventh of the ten IPAs that we tried. The aroma is dominated by dark malts, which is surprising for the style. Pours a notably dark copper with a small amount of white head. The flavor is low in hops for the style. The hops taste that is present is of the bitter variety typical of English IPAs rather than the citrus variety more common in the American spin on the style. Slight roasted malt notes. Honestly, this tastes more like an amber ale than an IPA. Bitter aftertaste. Nothing remarkable in the palate. This is not a bad beer, but it is not a particularly good one, and it is not what I have come to expect from the style. Summit Extra Pale Ale is a superior and hoppier brew. Summit IPA came in last place on my list in the tasting.

Looks really good pouring into the glass. Dark and strong amber color. A bit too carbonated. Not quite strong enough of a bitter finish for my taste. Nice hop flavor and all around a good tasting beer.

12 oz bottle via ohiodad (thanks!).Pours a dark semi-hazy amber with an average size beige head. Smells more like an English ESB. Taste is mostly earthy/floral hops on an almost adequate malt backbone. Some molsasses flavor comes through as well. Dry finish. Bittersweet aftertaste. A tiny bit of sourness as well. Low/moderate carbonation. Medium body.

Summit India Pale Ale 12 oz bottle Recent brewing, reached 01/07 Medium pour in a tulip glass Poured a hazy orange brown with a small light yellowish brown mostly diminishing head. Smelt of strong pineapple, oranges, spices, toasted bread, sweet malt. Taste was upfront strong bitter and juicy sweet grapefruit rind and spruce followed by spruce and earthy mushroom on an average to long finish. Palate was light to medium bodied, watery, lively carbonated with moderate astringency. Overall, a good balance and strength in flavor of the hops and malt taste, although it feels a bit watery and average.

this beer does not demonstrate a full aroma like atrue american IPA. It’s color is a little darker than it should be. But it does pack a nice hop punch. I like this beer althought it’s slightly watery with its finish. Easy drinking brew

Pours a deep and clear copper color, with a scant half inch of tan foam. The head dies down quickly to a ring and a film. Spidery lacing throughout the glass. Mild hops, mild malt in the aroma. I love the spicy hops in the initial sip. Big bold and peppery. Solid malt flavor, sweet and toffee like. Hops throughout, even well into the aftertaste. Bitterness lingers on the tongue - making me thirsty for another bottle.

Bottle. Poured a clear reddish amber with a good two fingers of light beige head, a finger of which remained. Had some pine in the nose. Taste started malty and then got slightly bitter, eventually metallic which was the only unpleasant thing about this beer. Overall, though, it was smooth with the right amount of carbonation and definitely drinkable in quantity. Perhaps too much so for an IPA.

Malt and floral hops. Bitter / pine floral hop taste. Murky with color between amber and ruby. dry yeasty malts giving way to pine and bitter hops. I would have to say that this review might have to change. I think this beer was frozen accidentally over night in the mini-van. however, it was still a decent offering...good lord, have you seen the woman on the beer advocate cover...perfect 10 right?! very little carbonation here.
