Murky with color between amber and ruby. dry yeasty malts giving way to pine and bitter hops. I would have to say that this review might have to change. I think this beer was frozen accidentally over night in the mini-van. however, it was still a decent offering...good lord, have you seen the woman on the beer advocate cover...perfect 10 right?! very little carbonation here. lweiberg (89), Eagan, Minnesota, USA

Update: just got a twelve-pack from Big Top in Eagan for $9.99+tax. Goes well with other forms of intoxication, altho certainly not primo. MattShizzle (385), Bernville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 29, 2006 Bottle. Poured clear orange/copper with a small head. Aroma was earthy and floral hops with underlying caramel malts. Light/medium body. I thought the taste was a little unbalanced towards bitterness. Metallic aftertaste. greenhorn1 (462), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 28, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark clear amber, with medium carbonation and a small head. Nose is very malty with little hops, not typical for this style. Flavor is a strong carmel malt with some mild grapefruit. This tastes more like an Amber Ale than an IPA, definitely no "aggressive hop flavor" as suggested by the commercial description. The one area that kills the rating for me is the strong metallic that appears late in the aftertaste. DJC (238), USA

Sweet, malty aroma, but there are some hops lingering in the background, too. Flavor profile contains sweet malts, caramel, and citrusy hops to round everything out. This IPA is more balanced than others I’ve had. Good carbonation. Goes down quite easily. milewide (622), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 14, 2006 Amber color with floaties. Some grain smell, but taste is lingering hop bitterness---which I enjoyed. Better than I expected, and the best of the Summit brews that I have tried. SledgeJr (3003), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2006 In the bottle at the HyVee Oktoberfest beer tasting in Council Bluffs. This is a beautiful beer. Pours hazy orange ruby amber with a thick off white head. Rich floral and fruity aroma. Has a great flavor of caramel. The thickness is full to the body. Has an impressive bitterness that is well-balanced. Great beer for the price ($4.99 a six).
