Pours out a nice clear amber colour with a mild fluffy white head with lots of carbonation. Scent is strongly of caramel with a tap-waterish character and a backdrop of grain. Taste is sweet hoppy and malty. Not much complexity but a nice solid IPA... Seems to be a signature of Summit- not to push into new grounds but to make a nice moderate example of specific styles. illinismitty (1797), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Pours a VERY translucent red with a nice white head. Too much filtration really loses points on appearance. Aroma was malty, where are the hops? This is an IPA. Flavor starts of well, caramel and tea offset by some moderate hop bitterness. I goes downhill from there. Finish is boring...lots of hairspray and thin. Better than I expected. The aroma is grassy vegetal hops. Not very pleasant at all.
The flavor is grassy hops leading to a bitter finish. The mouthfeel is extremely watery - it tends to wash out the flavor.
Overall, not a great example of an IPA. It has good bitterness, but it’s pretty simplistic and unbalanced, and I don’t care for the grassiness. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA

Brownish amber color, clear, with a light brown foam. Light sweetness up front with a medium bitterness on the finish. Medium body and a lively, bitter finish and hints of sweetness. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 25, 2006 Not great like summits extra PA or porter but a solid bitter IPA -- needs more hops, spice, citrus. Not much bite to it. I thought I caught faint taste of pear which was odd. AdamGott (190), Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA
