Malty (caramel, brown sugar) & hoppy (mint, pine, spice) aroma w/ hints of wood. Medium, slightly resiny feel. Very malty (caramel, brown sugar) & moderately hoppy flavour. Somewhat earthy, spicy, dry, lingering finish. geekin (9), North Dakota, USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2004 Coppery brown color, decent light brown/tan head. Being an IPA, it has a nice hoppy taste, not as well hopped as others I,ve tried, but very satisfactory. The malts are OK but they don’t last long. Aftertaste is what I expected. All in all a decent beer. JPDIPSO (4928), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 18, 2004 Copper color with a moderate bone colored head. Mild malt with some grapefruit and pine wood in the aroma. definately more hops flavors than malt. Malt lost and not to be found after the first sip. Thinner and unbalanced. gws57 (1138), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 27, 2004 Had this one bottled. A very good IPA. Clear, dark red color, very little head, smooth taste and aftertaste. A little less hoppy than I like. Silphium (2139), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 27, 2004 Clear copper-red body, thin light tan head. Floral hops aroma with hints of pine and biscuity malt. Flavor is buoyed by a toasty malt backbone with plenty of spicy, floral, bitter (piney) hops. Underlying notes of sweet caramel are revealed after the hops subside. Medium-bodied. Aftertaste is muddy and, yes, a bit astringent, detracting from the drinkability. Floral aroma of caramel, citrus, pine, bread and a hint of pepper. Medium watery body with a moderate amount of carbonation. Flavor of caramel, citrus, and pine with hints of spice and grass. Slightly astringent. A pretty standard IPA. Nothing too special but certainly very drinkable. Another decent beer from Summit. PorterPounder (3147), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 6, 2004 Had in the bottle at Old Chicago in Roseville, Mn. Dark copper appearance, decent sized off-white head with good lacing. Has the standard sprucey nose, citrusy, hoppy flavor. Is not tongue numbing like some its west coast counterparts - subdued some, some malty nuttiness makes its way through as well. Very clean flavor. Decent, somehat thick mouthfeel. Above average for a regional IPA. SkyinBrian (429), Collinsville, Illinois, USA
