The aroma is grapefruit, pine hops and raisin. Decent spotty lacing on the glass. The taste is very hoppy with a nice bitter finish. A good IPA from Summit. Palidor19 (1773), Brandon, Florida, USA

It’s got a cool amber color but other than that... The only thing is I am not real big on IPAs so this may be the low score you throw out. CanIHave4Beers (883), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 27, 2009 I’ve always had a sort of weird relationship with Summit beers, It’s been a while since I’ve had one.... here goes!
Pours with a creamy white head, but this quickly shrinks to about half it’s inital poured size but then the retention is nice and the lace looks very good. This has a citrus aromawith some caramel like maltiness. Flavor follows with some immediate bitterness, but certinally some tea like flavors that aren’t all that welcome. There is some odd cardboard and sweat like flavors that don’t mix well either, oxidation? These off flavors are a shame because I really like what is going on with the hops and the balance here, the hops are not fruit forward at all and are centered around a very good bitterness, kind of piney! The balance is very well achieved here as well, perhaps some of the off flavors are from the malt? I don’t know but I am certian some of the plesantries also come from the malt, the malt is caramel sweet and plays very well alongside the bitterness. I can imagine that this would be very good say fresh on tap? I don’t know for sure, I will have to check next time I am down at El Bait Shop... I hope the problem lies in the bottle because I really like some things that are happening in the beer. dkachur (2376), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
