Commercial Description:
Early German monks created “bock” beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came “blonder” styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, we’ve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.“Bock,” by the way, is German for “male goat.” It doesn’t make sense to us either.

Clear amber with a small head. Aroma of sweet malts, grains and earthy, grassy hops. Taste of multi-grain/nut bread, caramel malt with a surprising amount of grassy hops. Flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Finish is bitter.

Pours a golden color with about a half finger worth of white head that has little retention time. Cereal grains come out in flavor, a very nuce brew

Bottle. Sweet aroma has some pale malt and caramel. Light breadiness. Off-orange body with a bubbly eggshell head. Taste is sticky and sweet with an acceptable amount of malt and definite alcohol overtones. Honey, caramel, and breadiness, some perfume and herbs. Medium body and a perfumed honey aftertaste. Mild and disappointing despite the relatively robust flavor.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a mug, golden with a thin quickly diminishing white head. Aroma was of grain and hops. The taste was of grassy hops, light sweet malt, generally smooth with a faint bitterness on the finish. I don’t get any alcohol at all.

On tap @ MadMex: Clear gold in color with a light tan head. Aroma, grassy hops, some pale malts, yeast, and a slight spice. Flavor, bready, pale malts, grassy and herbal hop notes. Pretty solid stuff.
