Commercial Description:
Early German monks created “bock” beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came “blonder” styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, we’ve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.“Bock,” by the way, is German for “male goat.” It doesn’t make sense to us either.

Poured orange-amber with a nicely built head. There’s a sweet malty aroma. It has a creamy consistency, but the flavor is an off-putting almost maple malt. I’ve liked every other Summit I’ve had ... this was disappointing.

Nice blonde pour with a fluffy white head. Fresh malts, lightly toasted bread and butter aroma. Lightly toasted, sweet maltiness with a citrus, peppery finish. Nice beer me thinks.

Golden copper color with a beige head. Grainy aroma. Sweet malt flavor. Finish is bitter but not hoppy.

Pretty copper pour, white head, some lingering lace. Not as much aroma as the Capital mai bock, and not as sweet or full tasting either. Creamy, malty, slightly bitter. Overall, a nice mai bock that’s very true to style, but not as outstanding as the Capital take.

Pours an amber/ copper color with a white head that doesn’t last long. Not much aroma, but what was there was green bell pepperish. Taste was a bit better, beginning creamy and finishing malty and slightly bitter. Overall not what I was hoping for.

bottle from duane (im pretty sure), pours a copper/deep gold color with a nice creamy white head that faded down to a thin layer and lacing on the sides of the glass. aroma was weak to non-existant, grassy hops. a nice sweet malt starts the mouthfull, caramel, spices and some grassiness. this really loses something as the aftertaste comes in, very bitter, biting malt taste, not the standard hop tail, just harsh malts. not the best bock around.

Pours a dark gold with a small head. Aroma and taste is grassy. A decent beer, but not a standout.

Golden color, with a medium head. Slightly fruity aroma. Taste is smooth, slighly creamy, yet a tad spicy and hoppy. Fairly complex flavor. A pretty good beer from a brewery that I usually am not terribly fond of. Make me want to try more of their beers. Good stuff!
