Commercial Description:
Early German monks created “bock” beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came “blonder” styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, we’ve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.“Bock,” by the way, is German for “male goat.” It doesn’t make sense to us either.

Amber with the mildest of haze and a large beige head with leaves some lace. Aroma of toasted malt, Vienna malt and mild skunk. Taste of toasted sweet and Vienna malts, rotten eggs, alcohol and sulfur. Pretty malty throughout and somewhat astringent.

Pours a golden color with some white head. Aroma is rich and malty and slightly sweet. Tastes of malts, hops, caramel, and some sweet fruity or floral flavors. A very good springtime beer.

The color of this brew,alc/vol,head and carbonation make it a true maibock. A good thing there is some local competition for a maibock this year. Summit wins the 2009 shoot-out. Almost on par with the original bomber release:)Very impressed with the labels staying on the new style bottles. Value priced in todays market,no lack of malts in this brew.Highly recommended

The beer pours a light golden color with little to no head. It is extremely clear with few bubbles. The main aroma is honey and caramel. The flavor is a bit nondescript. It has a hint of honey at the finish, but other than that the flavor is pretty flat and bland. This beer is probably an easy drinking lawnmower beer, but I wouldn’t recommend it outside of that.

I do find myself liking the Summit beers most of the time. They come in at a pretty decent price; if i’m strapped for cash and i still can’t find an SN I buy a summit which the EPA usually does the trick. Sometimes the styles can be a little off, this one was good for the most part, but i love my maibocks just a wee bit heavier, and a little more biscuity. Either way- Pours a dark amber colour with a medium sized off white head. Aroma is nice- caramel, a little burnt scent, possibly a little nutty at times. Taste is nice, smooth, again some candy like flavours- not too sweet, but just a little hint of something syrupy on the roof of the mouth. Finish lingers on and makes me wonder if there should have been something else to feel. Again- good beers, but maybe could use a little work.

Bottle. Yellow pour, nice carbonation and a good malty aroma. Flavor of caramel, alcoholic malts and finishes strong. A good, and relatively cheap local maibock.
