Autumn Brew Review 2008. Finally get to try this one. Black color with a large head. You know... it smelled kinda funky to start with, but after some numskull I was with mentioned it smelled like vomit, I couldn’t get that out of my head, and nose. Very funky and almost tart aroma. Very dry funk, horsey, musty taste. Dry and toasted malt. Good, but hard to get that first impression out of my head.

Sweet and mild with a bit of peppery spice at the end. Tasty and smooth, I really like what Summit has done with this one.

Firkin. Pours dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma of funk from the brett and oatmeal. Flavor is a little bland, slightly sweet. Silky smooth.

On cask at the ABR 07 in Minneapolis, MN. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a decent off-white head that stick around and has good lacing. Aroma of dark roasted oatmeal malt, some slight yeast funk and a touch of sourness. Taste is full bodied, very light carbonation, if any, and a flavor of a typical oatmeal stout with a hidden touch of sour funk. Finish is not as malty as the flavor first revealed but a nice touch of Brettanomyces.

Available at the 2007 ABR. Nice roasted aroma, as I expected from previous tastings of the oatmeal stout, but there is also light barnyard in the aroma. Flavor has more roasted grain like a standard oatmeal stout, but there is some sourness and yeast, making the brett clearly recognizable. Medium palate. Congratulations to Summit on their most imaginative beer.
