Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 18, 2009 A deep dark stout with a thick moka head. A light chocolate aroma, faint and discreet. In mouth, a light silky stout with light cold coffee, a bit too light, but decent. On tap at Ike’s MSP, Sept. 13 2009. bluemooner (229), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Sep 26, 2009 On tap at 3 Squares. Almost black with a very creamy brown head. Rather weak aroma of oats and malts. Mouthfeel is quite creamy with low carbonation. Tastes of roasted malt and oats, chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Very impressive. chronictonic (399), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 5, 2009 Tap at union jacks- opaque black pour with thin tan head. Aroma is mild - could be that it’s served a bit too cold. Coffee and roasted malts, along with some toffee and chocoate. Flavor is sweet and roasty some chocolate, sweet grains. A bit thin in body - again could be the temp - lacks the mouthfeel of an oatmeal stout but the flavor is great GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jun 19, 2009 Cask at The Happy Gnome. Poured an opaque black color with a creamy light tan head that left a sheet of lace on the glass as I sipped. Smelled of roasty malt and light flowery hops with additional whiffs of cocoa and molasses. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with low carbonation from the cask. I tasted the likes of chocolate, roast, and caramel. No significant roasty bitterness. deyholla (506), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jun 18, 2009 Tap. Poured black with a light brown head. Aroma was consisted of oat and chocolate notes. Flavor matched the aroma quite well with oat, chocolate and coffee notes. snakeoilpete (324), Seattle, Washington, USA May 29, 2009 Updated: Jun 4, 2009On cask at the Muddy Pig. Pours almost black with a nice beige head. Weak malty nose- roasty oatmeal. Taste is stronger with a little bit of chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied with a roasty finish. obxdude10 (1546), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA May 29, 2009 This oatmeal stout is truely a far cry from most of the others I’ve sampled in the past. But that was a good thing. I sampled this beauty on the Craft Ale House’s nitro tap, and it delivered a ton of flavor and character. The color was black and the head was a beautiful brown color. There was plenty of lacing left behind on the glass, as well. In the nose, I picked up on a ton of chocolate and coffee notes. The flavors features more tones of cocoa and coffee, but also included some hints of caramel, cream and light hops. The body was extremely smooth and very drinkable. The finish had almost a milkshake-like character to it. This is definitely one of the better oatmeal stouts I’ve had the pleasure of sampling. DalzAle (474), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA May 12, 2009 On tap tonight at the Happy Gnome in St. Paul. Pour was rich black color, with a hefty 1 inch froth on the pour. Aroma was roasted malts and vanilla. Flavor was great, roasted malts, vanilla, cream and finished slightly sweet. Really dig this one, and really hope they can it someday.
