The taste was a nice balance of hops and malt and the finish was very nice (like must Summits). I’ll tip many of these this fall. cheapdark (2026), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Sep 9, 2007 Bready rising yeast aroma. In the glass the aroma becomes more volatile. A little darker than the ubiquitous pale yellow american lager. Has an orange tinge to it. First taste impression is a little more bitter than I care for in a marzen. I wanted to say that it has a definite alky bite to it but now I see the level is listed as near 8%. Probably one of the most strong fest beers I’ve ever tasted. Not sure if I would call this smooth or not, it’s a little in your face. Needs a few manners. Has some below average carbonation. Cannot compete with Hacker, Schell or Stoudt’s Octoberfests. Just a little below the enjoyability of Great Lakes, Harpoon and Atwater Octoberfests. Will not buy again. Very low on the enjoyability scale. Leaves an unrefined alky malt bite that will not go away soon enough. BDR (2167), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 4, 2007 Pours with an off-white fine head and some lace. Nice rich dark amber color. Marzen malty nose. NIce balance flavor very light on hops with a slightly toasty mallt and a bit of sweetness. A good ok fest beer and a session brew fo sho. Had this one on draft at Bodega Brew P:ub, downtown La Crosse, WI USA.
