It has a sweeter taste that I would descride as reliable. I think that no matter when you have this beer it has a decent taste. I think that this beer would appeal to most beer drinkers. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 27, 2005 12 oz bottle. Very clear orange-copper, smallish quick-dissipating white head...malty, light toasted bread accented nose offers just a touch of woodiness for interest....alcohol is a bit too prominent in the body, which is somewhat fruity (cherry, baked apple) caramel-malty, with a weird sprig of mintiness towards the end...the high ABV seems to lead to a slight metallic touch at the finish, and a bit of syrupiness...not terrible, but a pass. pleasant on appearance but full of disappointment. finishes ugly and bitter, can’t wait til 6-pack is done. this oktoberfest will get one of the first draft picks next year! badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 20, 2005 amber copper color with minimal head...aroma of caramel, roasted malts, and sweet sugary malts...flavor is the same with a heavy emphasis on the roasted sugars and toffee...okay palate Juelze (916), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 17, 2005 Pours a copper color with little head, even when poured semi-aggressively. Aroma is of caramel malt and a bit of a fruity note. Nicely carbonated it has a bitter taste in the finish. Gobs of caramel and a touch of tart cherry emerges in the flavor. A decent beer. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 17, 2005 Thanks to Robert’s Reality for this. Deep copper pour with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some bread and fruit. Tastes bready malty, with some dry caramel, hops, and fruit. Medium palate and semi-dry in the mouth all the way through. pinkzambia (989), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 11, 2005 On Tap at Spike’s Sports bar & Grill in Minneapolis. It pours a clear goldish-amber with a minimal light-brown yellow head. Aromas and tastes of sweet silage and grass clippings. The carbonation is about average. There is a slight bitter aftertaste (I would prefer more) and the feel is thin and drinkable. Missing something for an Oktoberfest, even Sam Adams has this one beat. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 7, 2005 The color of a shiny new penny, the modestly bubbling body could only support a one-fingered head, and that only for a short while. The aroma is sweet caramel malt, tobacco, and a powdery floral hopping. Quite creamy. The flavor is all sweet malts with just a hint of nutty bitterness. Having a honey sweet finish, this is a decent Märzen. The stronger ABV is certainly well hidden.
