Summit is the name of the most prestigious street in Minnesota (Summit Ave.) where the Governor’s mansion and other large houses are located (F. Scott Fitzgerald lived a time here). Grand Ave. runs parallel one block away. So Summit Grand speaks to the two streets. The beer gives every impression of being of serious quality, as well, in a category that often attracts cheap imposters. Caramelly, block-like grassy aroma. Simple yellow color, thin head. Moderate and soft carbonation. German hop flavor with mid-level astringency, bready flavor. Decent beer. SledgeJr (2961), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Was this force carbonated with CO3? Ha, ha, a little chemist joke there. Head leaves us on time. Maybe it’s early. Definitely lacks a nose. The hops are good and strong. Bitterness leaps forward and clings to your tongue throughout the beer. Tangy. This could use a little more balance with some more malt body. All things considered, I think that New Ulm has won the Minnesota War of Pilsners. Check out Schell’s instead. Or stick to the exquisite Summit Hefe. The aroma was a nice combination of citrusy hops and a touch of flowers.
The mouthfeel was very nice... Light and flavorful...on the malty side; a beer that I can pretty much drink all night.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 31, 2004 Clear light amber with a huge frothy white head. Nice floral, somewhat earthy aroma of citrus, toasted bread, and honey. Medium light watery palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. Refreshing. Nice flavor that starts sweet with honey, citrus and bread. Finishes slightly bitter with a nice earthiness and light pine notes. Slightly metallic. A good everyday beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 10, 2004 Light golden colour. Very nice fruity (lemon) and grainy aroma. Flavour is nice too but the finish doesn't quite meet the promising expectations. Not exactly a "classic" Bohemian Pilsener (probably due to the domestic hops), but nonetheless a very decent beer. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA

Good Czech style hops on the nose. A bit heavier that I would have prefered but it turns out to be quite nice... jdog76 (85), madison, Wisconsin, USA
