Nov 28, 2005 Full reddish brown pour, with a thin tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malts, nuts and fruits, with a tootsie roll chocolate note at the end. There is also some metal scraps in the aroma that isn’t very good (I had a couple of bottles with this issue). Chocolate, medium roast almost lightly burnt. Sweet and spicy finish. Slightly syrupy. This is a fair offering from Summit.

Nov 21, 2005 Aroma is molasses. Burnt roasted nutty flavor. A winter treat. A hint of chocolate; maybe even some cinnamon. Decent brew.

Oct 29, 2005 Pours a dark mahogany with some tan head. Smells of roast, dry chocolate, and maybe nuts. Thin and watery in the taste dept. Some roast and dry chocolate are noticed, finishes bitter.

Jul 7, 2005 Pours a deep dark brown with a thick, forthy and nicely-lacing tan head. Nice rich toasty caramel toffee aroma has a touch of noble hops and some milk chocolate complexity. Body starts with good viscosity, nice, lightly sweet, full caramel maltiness and a smooth, lightly bitter dark chocolatey finish. A very nice and enjoyable winter warmer. Probably the best beer I’ve had from Summit yet.

Apr 15, 2005 Last of the Summit 4-pack sampler, and possibly the best. A very dark, reddish-brown body capped with a light brown head. Malty aromas with some prune and green leaves... alcohol scents when warm. Flavor starts bitter, reveals coffee, caramel and sweetness, then finishes sour. Medium-to-full-bodied with an almost-syrupy texture, but not potent... dare I say "sessionable"? A good, porter-caliber ale.

Apr 14, 2005 Pouring deep mahogany with a thin tan head, this has a deep roasted aroma with chocolate and nuts and coffee and spices. It’s a bit thing and watery in the mouth. The thusly weakened flavor still has plenty of roasted malts to enjoy along with bittersweet chocolate and some mild hopping on the finish. Odd ale.
