dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 6, 2007 Thanks to Ian for smuggling this back from Sturgis. Pours a nice dark brown with a small dark head. Some Chocolate malt, coffee, and I guess oatmeal in the nose. Tingly carbonation in the mouth with chocoalte malt, coffee, and a hint of vanilla. Nice tinge of coffee in the aftertaste. I have been waiting to try this brewery and it certainly did not disappoint. This is a very complex beer and I think a few more would help me get a better understanding of all the flavors. This was a great beer for my number 99! padrefan98 (787), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Aug 6, 2007 Thanks to toncatcher for sharing. Nice sweet flacors of some caramel and vanilla. Pretty decent. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 6, 2007 Can sampled with Mad indian, thanks to Faro99 for sending this to me. Pours Mahogany with a beige head. Aroma of nuts, caramel, slight roast, and piney hops. The flavor is sweet caramel, nuts, roast, and finishes with a citrusy bitterness. Flyer (118), Hartland, Wisconsin, USA Aug 5, 2007 I’m surprised to see this is a "brown ale," because I had it on tap and it looked and tasted like a stout. As such, it was a good, solid, hearty stout, but without much complexity. The aroma and taste had plentiful roasty malts with some distinct coffee notes. It had a relatively clean finish for a stout(but I guess that’s because it’s a brown ale). I probably wouldn’t go out of my way for this, but it’s good choice when it’s available fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Aug 5, 2007 16 oz can shared with toncatcher. Nice chocolate and nutty aromas. Nice head on the brown pour. But the flavor just didn’t do it for me. I am just not a brown
ale fan. Probally deserves better rating than this, but I am just not a big fan. MadIndian (987), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 4, 2007 Can sampled with stegosaurus, care of faro99 trade. Mahogany pour chocolate roast aroma. Taste is pretty much thesame with a hint of coffee. Alittle thin for my taste but good none the less. jake65 (1657), Williston, North Dakota, USA Jul 29, 2007 Can from Footbalm - Thanks! Pours a dark brown with a modest tan head. Light lacing. My first impression is the aroma of wheat bread with some nuts, as well as a little maltiness. Tastes of a brown ale with solid malt, toffee, roasted nuts, and some bittersweet cocoa. Nice creamy feel. Thure (143), Aalborg, Denmark Jul 28, 2007 Dar brown with red highlights and a nice tan head. The aroma is of roasted malt with some sweet and hops. The taste is sweet and roasty with nut and caramel notes. The aftertaste is a nice long sweet roasty flavor.
