The aroma is malty and sweet with light toast/toasted nut character and some interesting cherry/berry fruitiness. Good flavour, nutty malt sweetness, toasted malt and a malted milk and chocolate component. Light earthy bitterness. A decent session ale. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 30, 2007 Dainty light tan/off-white head, very frothy, which tops a medium, reddish brown body. Potent aroma - surprisingly hoppy for a brown ale, but also has a pleasant dose of hazelnuts and sweet malts, with hints of caramel. I’m surprised and very pleasantly pleased that the flavor is not particularly sweet, but it is very rich and creamy. Nicely balanced, with the hops not too much in the fore-front, yet not too malty. Thick, like a good chocolate malt. Very nice. notalush (2645), Denver, Colorado, USA

Along with the implied and truly apparent smoothness (oats? good decision), the nice combination roast and hop finish is it all blending seamlessly. I tend to either over-scrutinize or plain overlook brown ales. This one just had me enjoying it and thinnking that I could and would enjoy more if I could.
