Dec 17, 2006 Aroma was a bit alcoholic w/ some chocolates and a bit of nuttiness. Pours a mahogony like color w/ a small white head fairly dense and w/ some decent lacing. Palate was pretty avg. Flavor had a bit of metalic taste to it but was quite big not really what I think of as a brown, some good chocolates and some light walnut and a little bit of grass... Decent beer.. I’d like to try it on tap instead of from the can.

Apr 22, 2008 can from Stine,thanks. Pours a deep brown with a medium, long lasting tan head. Aroma-caramel, nutty malt with touches of chocolate and some floral hop suggestions. Taste is caramel, light chocolate, somewhat nutty, with a moderate amount of oats. Body is creamy and lightly slick. Some floral hops in the background, light bitter finish. Probably the best brown ale I’ve had.

Jul 3, 2007 RBSG 2007 Tour at Surly – Dark brown, creamy off white head. Toasty vanilla aromas sit a top faint caramel and chocolate molasses notes. Flavor is well balanced tones of all the above. Aug 5, 2007 16 oz can shared with toncatcher. Nice chocolate and nutty aromas. Nice head on the brown pour. But the flavor just didn’t do it for me. I am just not a brown
ale fan. Probally deserves better rating than this, but I am just not a big fan.

Jan 15, 2006 Murky, deep brown. Nose lightly peaty, some caramel, bit of smoke. Hoppier than expected with some spicy and sweet earthy caramel. Great aftertaste, maple syrup sweetness hangs on for a very long time. Sampled from the brewery’s inaugural keg served at the St. Paul Winterfest in 2006.

Apr 9, 2008 Can from Tytoanderso trade. Pours a light bodied medium cola brown with little head. Aromas of sweet malts, cocoa, cream. Medium mouthfeel with lots of flavor. Gathered flavors of cocoa, milk chocolate, vanilla ice cream sandwiches. Solid brown ale if not one of the best to date

Nov 5, 2006 A dark brown appearance with beige head. A chocolate, nutmeg, and toffee aroma. The flavor is quite sour with a lot of nutty and caramel notes. A sweet finish. This was a nice brown ale especially from a tall boy can.

Apr 25, 2008 Thanks to Tytoanderso for this! Dark brown thick head and some spotty lacing Roasted malts and cocoa on the nose. Malty with subtle hints of wood. Slightly bitter finish. Very good for the style
