Aroma is a nice roasty-bready malt mix with some chocolate and molasses detectable. Flavor is a nice darker malt mix that has a good amount of caramel, oat, sugar, molasses, chocolate. Really good for a brown ale. MrManning (1655), London, Ontario, Canada

This ale poured decidedly dark brown with a frothy mocha head. Spotty lace is left behind. The nose is all about the hops and is dominated by the cascades, and then matched with wood, milk chocolate and nutty notes. This tastes good! Sweet nutty chocolate, like nutella, with dry cocoa powder and fresh, leafy green hops. Sweet and bitter. Usually Brown Ales are too sweet for my general liking, but this is quite good. Creamy and long lived bitter finish. Yes please! Thanks for the opportunity to try this one Matt! kiefdog (1635), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours a dark brown cola color with reddish highlights and a tone finger tan head that settles quickly. Aroma is roasted and malty with notes of chocolate, toffee, caramel, malt, brown sugar and hints of molasses and coffee. Flavor is also roasted and malty with notes of brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, coffee, ripe dark fruit and hints of nuts. Generally medium body with a pleasing roasted malt finish. jason (1624), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is of sweet malt with an hint of molasses. Flavor lays heavy with sweet malt - peaty, light hops and some light chocolate present. Very quaffable. Good beer from a can. Nose is nutty, chocolate, caramel, and slight roast. Flavor is slightly hoppy with earthy malts, more chocolate, nuts, and roast. Pretty smooth finish and enjoyable brown ale. Sweet rotten mashy sent, very unplesant. Some chocolate in there, but mostly just sourness and rotten peas. A bad batch like this should have been stopped by the brewery. esjaygee (1581), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 17, 2009 Ruby brown, particulate laden and a creamy brown head and some frothy lacing. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, light coffee, sweet malt, light chocolate and a touch of grains. Creamy body tastes of coffee, mild hops, roasted malt, caramel, vanilla, oatmeal - reminds me a bit of a tootise roll. A little citrus in there too. Perhaps a hair thin and contains a touch of sourness and mild bitterness on the back end. Someone forgot to mention to this beer that it’s a brown ale. Low expectations going in based on style but this was solid. MrBunn (1555), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2009 Can with thanks to Dakzale. Pours the color of darkly stained cherry wood with a cola like head of a finger and aromas of earth and nuts. Flavor is very similar and very good. It is very nutty with a little bit of a woody edge to it. Mouthfeel is OK, but I think I would like it to be a bit thicker. As is, I would definitely take more of this, though.
