A very unique aroma of sometimes chocolate, Extra gum, more hops as it warms, and some cocoa. Flavor is great with a lot of caramel, some chocolate, and a nice (but not overpowering) hop finish. The mouthfeel on this beer is superb, as it is incredibly smooth. I think this is my new go-to session beer. deyholla (700), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Aroma consisted of mainly dark hops, hints of coffee, caramel and a sweet cream smell. The flavor began surprisingly bitter, though by no means aggressive. The beer then transitions into a pleasant malty flavor, almost chocolate like. Narnad (694), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Poured from tap with a dark brown and ruby red color with an off-white head which left good lacing behing. Aroma is light caramel malt, lots of hops a light dark fruit scent, coffee and some chocolate. Stars out with a bitter coffee and chocolate maltiness which then moves into a sweet prune, kinda raisin flavor and ends with a bitter roasted malt bite as well as some bitter hops. Good mouth feel to the beer as well a a moderate carbonation rate. Overall is a pretty good beer. CelticBrew (694), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA

Aroma of malty goodness, roasted nuts, toffee and milk chocolates. Flavour of coffee, with nutty malty goodness. Extremely smooth drinking beer. Not a big fan of brown ales, but this one is tasty, would definitely drink again. miketd (679), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2009 Pours a dark brown color with a small off whoite head that quickly dissipates to a thin film. The aroma shows toasted caramel, chocolate, roasted malts, and nuts. The flavor is malt forward with the chocolate and caramel showing strong with the roast and some earthy hop bitterness on the backend. Medium bodied and goes down very smooth with good carbonation and a lingering roasted nut finish. Tried side by side with the Cigar City Maduro, but hard to compare when this can was a few months old. Still a solid brown ale. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
