Nose has vanilla, plum, chocolate and light coffee. Flavor is a bit ashy, which creates a singular flavor in chocolate dust, also some minor coffee and nut. Pretty silky body, light bitterness in the finish but no hop balance to enjoy. Drinkable, sweet, and balanced, just lacking some nuance. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2009 Pours a dark brown color with a small off whoite head that quickly dissipates to a thin film. The aroma shows toasted caramel, chocolate, roasted malts, and nuts. The flavor is malt forward with the chocolate and caramel showing strong with the roast and some earthy hop bitterness on the backend. Medium bodied and goes down very smooth with good carbonation and a lingering roasted nut finish. Tried side by side with the Cigar City Maduro, but hard to compare when this can was a few months old. Still a solid brown ale. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
