Lots of sweet malt in the nose, giving off caramel, vanilla, raisins, and just a touch of alcohol. Taste isn’t quite as good out of the can as I remember on tap. It’s sour and milky and finishes with some bitter chocolate, coffee, and hops. A little watery, but with enough body to still feel a little creamy. Not my favorite Surly brew, but still very solid. Just seems like a non-descript, brown ale to me. OK malt, some nuts, some coffee, a bit thin if creamy, not much of an aftertaste. Easy to drink, but just leaves me wanting. I should have not had the Furious first, which was outstanding. Tweety (344), Vancouver, Washington, USA

| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Tasting at thewolf. Pours a brown with red edges and a brownish head that quickly disappears. Aroma and Flavour is very sour (like a kitchen cloth), you can recognize some chocolate, but it is also very metallic and tart - very infected...
