Commercial Description:
Get Surly! Here’s what happens when substance meets smooth. This oatmeal brown ale defies traditional categories. Bender begins crisp and lightly hoppy, complemented by the velvety sleekness oats deliver. Belgian and British malts usher in cascades of cocoa, coffee, caramel, and hints of vanilla and cream. An easy-drinking ale with many layers of satisfaction.

There’s a lot of wood in this one, and a slight astringency. Ruby color. Fairly dry. I didn’t like this as much as the Furious.

Can. I can’t remember the last time I had a microbrew in a can. A brown color with a light brown head. A semi-sweet malty, toasted caramel aroma with nuts. Earthy, gritty, and malty flavors are push through this beer. A good body with a lasting malty aftertaste.

Minnetonka, Mn. - Old Chicago Pizza - draft. Dark brown pour, mocha colored head with good lacing. Chocolatey aroma which carries over to the flavor. Hints of nuttiness with a coffee finish. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Very enjoyable.

Very deep brown, nice head. Aroma is faintly of nuts. Flavor is lightly nutty and leafy, pine hops on the finish. Hoppy for the style, which is nice.
