explosivebeer (35), Washington, USA Mar 11, 2008 This beer poured a lovely dark brown and immediately had a hint of banana esters. It was lightly nutty with some chocolate and caramel notes. Overall it was an excellent beer and the best I’ve ever had out of a can.
bp (340), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 29, 2008 Can: pours a very dark brown with a tan head, chocolate, malty aroma, taste of chocolate, malt, vanilla, coffee, medium mouthfeel. This is a really nice brown. Probably one of the better ones I’ve had. noncaloric (194), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Nov 28, 2008 Malt-driven aroma. Pours dark, dark brown ... this is a brown ale with aspirations of being a porter ... lots of tan head leaves a good lacing. Flavor is very well balanced bittersweet. On the malt side, molasses, nuts, and just a little bit of the roast; the hops are floral and spicy. Smooth on the palate, but thin bodied for something this flavorful. GJF (267), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA Nov 20, 2008 Not a big brown fan, so not the best to judge it perhaps, but it seems solid. But why, I ask, drink this if you can have their furious? CaryTheDude (489), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Nov 19, 2008 Thanks to Honkeybra’s Big Pappa I guess, aight? Nose, hops at first but once it mellows it goes to roast. Flavor is big Kimbo Slice nuts, but the finish gets into way too much bitter hoppiness. Just misses out on awesomeness. Still pretty damn good. HonkeyBra (509), Lemont, Illinois, USA Nov 19, 2008 Pours brown with a creamy tan head. Light aroma of roasted malts. Flavor is pretty good. Dry, bitter with coffee, chocolate, roasted maltds. Dry finish. Nice hops, and Nice mouthfeel. One of the better takes on a Brown ale I’ve ever encountered.
