Pours a hazy orange copper with close to no head. Aroma is earthy, pine, citrus. Flavor is not as spicy than the aroma, sugary notes, reminding me a bit of bubblegum. Palate is light yet creamy with little carbonation.

On cask at Surly Darkness Day 09. Pours a hazy golden orange with a thin white head. Aroma is almost all apple for me. There is a touch of some other melon fruits and honey in there too. Taste is very close to the CynicAle with some wood and apple flavors. The wood really came through at first, but I either got used to it or it mellowed. Finish has a touch of sweetness to compliment the woody.

Cask @ Darkness Day 09. Pours a somewhat hazy orange color with very minimal head. Flavor is mild earthy wood with typical Cynic qualities. Very mellow with very low carbonation. Agree with previous raters that this is basically slightly flat Cynic with a hint of wood.

On cask and drawn at Surly Darkness Day 09 in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. Pours a semi- hazy light golden orange brew with a thin white head that quickly dissipates with minimal lacing. Aroma of light banana esters, apricot, pineapple, peach, honey and light golden multi-grain malt. Taste is quite similar to the regular CynicAle with some soft wood character and earth flavor. Finish is a touch sweeter than the Ash Wood aged version with some light lemon zest character. Not as smooth as the oak aged version and not as dry as the Ashy version.

Draft @ Surly. Like the other wood aged cynic’s, this one had a slightly muted, woody character and a less carbonated mouthfeel. Aside from the woodiness, not much difference from the regular cynic.
