Lots of bubbles in this one. Smell of nectorines, flowers and citrus. Taste is crisp and clean with a nice hop finish. Very balanced beer! fredandboboflo (1404), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Can, thanks to tytoanderso. Aroma opens with juicy hop notes, sort of green-grape-like, grapefruit to put a more conventional hop aroma on things, then moves onto some caramel malt, somewhat doughy, not all that toasty for the style (not that I care). Flavor again has a distinct green grape hop feel for me as well as some orange oil, and other vaguely fruity notes arising from the sweet malt. Rather thin/watery mouthfeel for me, though looking at it a different way, that could only add to its sessionability, which is high considering my rare desire for more of the same beer after finishing this one. Quite tasty, and certainly a unique take on the style. Snojerk321 (1962), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 21, 2009 can. Mostly clear golden orange with a small off white head with good lacing. Aromas of light citrus hops, light spice and biscuit. Very light and clean flavor and finish. Another good one from Surly. jrob21 (1268), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2009 Thanks to skinny guy for forwarding this one. Somehow the hops here are a little muted. For something called bitter I am expecting a little more going on with the hop profile, possible explanation is that it is a bit passed its prime but only another can will tell me that. Who is sending me one?! Clear golden color. Aroma is mostly toasty grain, barley with a bit of grassy and spicy notes. Light bready malt flavors up front give way to a citrus hop flavor with some apple and other fruits in there as well. The finish is a bitter pine sort of flavor. Perfect for grilling out back which is what I did with this guy. bluemooner (237), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 17, 2009 Pours a lightly cloudy orange with a medium, off-white head with some lacing. Aroma if of sweet, fruity hops and bread. Pleasant mouthfeel with light carbonation and medium-thin body. Tastes of fruity, citrus hops, bread, earthy and pine notes, peach, orange, mangos, other sweet fruit flavors, and spicy, peppery notes. Bitter finish. Quite a good beer. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 16, 2009 Pint size can from skinny guy. Pours a bright orangish kinda copper color with a white head. Nose is quite fruity, lots of apricot, some orange, very fruity. Palate is velvety a bit with some nice carbonation and a pleasant mouth feel. Flavors are fruity and creamy. Peaches, apricots, light sweet cream notes, some hints of bitter hops and a nice clean bitter finish. joet (1708), Fulton, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 16, 2009 Above average for the style. Good easy drinking, plenty of hop character. Enough effervescence to propel an aroma and a little more. What English beer could be! ha! marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 9, 2009 Sweet orange and malt aromas. Brownish orange color with an off white head. Flavor is ice tea, with a light fruitiness and a bitter finish. Palate is light and slightly watery. Not enough punch for me. Refreshing, but not too exciting.
