Thought it was a good idea to age this style of beer. Aroma was of vanilla, caramel, toffee and bourbon; notes of sweetness. Agree with golub’s barlewine comment. Liked the amount of sweetness and more subtle than most bourbon hints. bu11zeye (5545), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2008 EBF NOTB. Aroma is mostly bourbon, with some sweet caramel malt also. The flavor is a little like a barleywine, sweet caramel, maltiness. Decent beer overall, didn’t seem like a lager. Cornfield (4954), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 11, 2007 This poured a deep, clear chestnut body with the slenderest of off-white heads. The aroma had plenty of Bourbon and was intensely sweet with dark caramel, the booziness working to keep that sweetness in check. It had a sweet cookie flavor, a lesser amount of Bourbon, and a touch of coconut in the flavor. This pushed the limit on endurable sweetness yet remained a warming drinkable brew.
