Commercial Description:
This beer is our regular Bender beer with a cold-press coffee-brewing process. We steep 20 gallons at a time, so this beer will pop up at Tours, beer fests and special tappings. The coffee is roasted locally at Coffee & Tea Limited in Linden Hills.

Brown and opaque like coffee with a yellowish tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and sprucey hop notes. Taste is the same as aroma with hops on the leading edge with more coffee in the finish. Not really as coffee forward as I expected with rather tea-like elements, and rather typical brown aleness. Perhaps the can aged too long and the intensity died down.

16 oz can from Skinnyguy. Pours a brown color with a small off white head. Nose is sweet malt with some nice dark notes. palate is fairly simple with a light velvet feel. Flavor is all coffee, where was this in the nose? coffee overpowers the flavor, its actually kinda nice...nose is malty, flavor is coffee...blends nicely.

Can acquired via trade. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a small head. Aroma of coffee, malt, and nuts. Flavor is loads of coffee as well as some nutty brown ale malt and roast. Palate is medium-light and slightly creamy. Good but I thought regular Bender was a little better and more well-rounded.

Can at the 8th Richmond Gathering courtesy of maniac. Dark brown pour. Strong coffee aroma. taste is almost pure coffee. Some roasted malt, and cocoa come through as well. Body is medium, chewy and creamy. Rather bitter as well. Ends with more coffee, choco notes and roasted malt. Very nice coffee beer!

Can. Aroma has notes of roasted malts and heavy roast coffee. Very dark coffee brown with a small off-white tan head that mostly diminished and left some lace. Flavor is bitter and tastes like cold carbonated coffee. Palate is light bodied and lively. All I can say is why? Left me with no desire to drink another coffee beer.

Drank nearby with bender. Bottle thanks to tytoanderso. Pours a dark brown with thin tan head, laces pretty well. Aroma strong of coffee and has a very mild grain, roasted malt, and chocolate to it. Flavor is obviously dominated by coffee, but enjoyable. Mouthfeel is creamy. Overall a nice coffee brew, but nothing uncharted.

Deep brown. Pleasant coffee aroma. Flavor is nutty and coffee combined. Really rather nice. Some hops show up on the finish, sort of leafy. Surprising in a coffee accented beer, but welcome. Great way to finish off this Richmond gathering.

Pretty good. I love Surly’s stuff, so it’s a treat to finally get to give this a try. Great coffee nose, nice lacing and a deep rich color. Coffee is very apparent, but not much else in there. Very well-balanced, but not too intricate. I like it, but I don’t love it.
