Nose is spent coffee grounds and a little ash. Medium bodied with a slightly creamy mouth feel and weak carbonation. Flavor is slightly acidic with strong coffee notes and a touch of nuttiness. Finished with a fair amount of hops bitterness. Somewhat one dimensional but I enjoyed it. Good coffee beer. HomeBrewHawk (279), De Soto, Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2009 Thanks again to Dansting for this one. 16oz can served in a shaker pint. Poured a clear dark reddish brown with a finger of light tan head. Nice aroma of coffee and cocoa. Coffee flavor was restrained and not over the top like a lot of coffee beers. The coffee didn’t add to the bitterness, which I find distracting. Decent amount of hop bitterness. Chocolate malt. Dry finish from hops as well as lingering malt. One of the better coffee beers IMO. marcus (1881), Sacramento, California, USA

This dark brown beer poured with a thin tan head and a strong coffee aroma. There is a rich coffee flavor with some treacle and carbonation and a long dry finish. awiseman01 (366), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

Pours dark brown with red edges and minimal light beige head. Nose is a mix of coffee, dark malt, and more hops than expected. Taste is sharp, spicy, bitter hop, dark malt, and black coffee. Very good brew, an odd mix of flavor, but it’s unique and I like that. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 20, 2009 This growler of brew from a DLD beer festival poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a transparent uncarbonated dark brown colored body. The mild aroma was brown malt and coffee. The thin mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of brown malt coffee and was softly acidic. I’d like to try this one again. jcwattsrugger (5528), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2009 Brown color with a bright umber glimmer when held to the light. Foamy light tan head. Dark chocolate and coffee aromas. Has a real pure coffee scent. Very smooth feel with just a little zip. Just a hint of toasted malt in the front. Light coffee creeps in from there. Seems simple, but to make a coffee brew that has just a hint of malt and then is pretty much all about the coffee is a nice feat. A nice coffee brew that isn’t over the top in roasted malt and alcohol. I like it. I really need more of this for the early football games this fall.
