chicagodri (485), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 30, 2008 On tap @ Kuma’s Corner. Pours a hazy orange with an off white head. Nice aroma, little bit of hops, peach, and some yeast. Actually very smooth and easy to drink, I had a couple of them. jimbowood (720), Athens, Georgia, USA Aug 30, 2008 can . Smooth. Easy drinking. Good tailgating beer. Nice and refreshing. Not overly spiced. PilsnerPeter (1414), Flushing, New York, USA Aug 29, 2008 Can (Thanks kosko20!) Pours a hazy range color with an off white film of head. This is a beer with a spot on commercial description. The aroma has some very mild apricot, oatmeal notes, and mild residual bready yeastiness. It has a light, fluffy feel, with a soft apricot flavor from the hops. There’s also a softly sweet malt base, with a touch of bread crust/biscuit and a hint of peppery character in the finish. Simple, but an easy drinker, and has a nearly perfect and accurate commercial description. BrotherGrendel (135), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Aug 28, 2008 1 pint can, contains poured into a Stone OG tulip glass.
Appearance is a murky caramel orange hue, fair amount of off-white runny foam dissipates mostly, watery lacing.
Smell is floral hops with light grainy malts, tones of light fruits (apricots, peaches), citrus honey, and yeast.
Taste is initial dominated by honey and subtly sweet fruits, transitions to grassy floral hops and bread-like malts, Belgian yeast is present throughout, some pepper and cloves in the background, finishes dry and prickly.
Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied, watery smooth texture, prickly carbonation.
I can’t believe that such a well-balanced and flavorful saison came out of a can, score another winner from Surly! vyvvy (1689), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Aug 23, 2008 GTMW 08 - Pours hazy orange with a sudsy of-white head. Lots of nectar fruits and earthiness along with barnyard Belgium yeast. Medium grainy body with soft carbonation. A good saison.
