Commercial Description:
Oh great, a fizzy yellow beer in a can, that's just what the craft beer world needs! CynicAle melds Old World ingredients in a new school style. French malted barley, English oats and Belgian yeast create honey and black pepper flavors. Lively Slovenian hops provide the floral, apricot and peach notes. Toss your doubts away, toss one back and enjoy!

Poured a pretty nice golden color with a pillowy white head; good retention and lace. There is some clove and other spice in the aroma, some earthy hops, and maybe a hint of bubble gum. Taste starts out much like the smell, but there’s maybe a little more bubble gum in the middle; has an earthy finish. Nice medium body, carbonation is about medium. Sits on the tongue pretty nice and doesn’t get cloying. I think I like this a touch less than my ratings will show, but it is another well made beer from the guys at Surly.

pours a dark orange-gold with a medium white head. Aroma is yeasty peach, herbal hop. Flavour is nice, more bitter than I expect a saison to be, though I’m learning that fits the surly profile. Peppery spice, earthy herbal hop flavour. Light fruity malt. Very interesting.

Tap @ The Maproom. Small sized off white foamy head. Aroma is citrus, floral and spicy. Very nice nose. A medium bodied saison. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are floral and earthy. Nice balance. Lively carbonation. Fruity and just spicy enough for a saison.

Derek’s can from a trade in WI. Yellow to grapefruit with a good head, lacing. Really easy drinking, 35 IBU but show more. A great summer deck beer. Restrained spiciness.

16oz can from Mrthirstyneck - thanks, Shane! A lovely amber pour into my Hennepin glass. Lively carbonation, medium head and minimal retention. Very pleasant aroma of yeasty funk and some mellow fruits (maybe apricot). The flavor is dominated by slight elements of pepper but mostly yeast. And while I’m hugely impressed at Surly - what balls, doing a saison in a bloody can - the beer ends up being perhaps too one-dimensional.

I had this last year and thought it was better then than it is this year. Clear golden pour with a small white head. Subtle bitterness. Yeast and light banana nose. Light fruits in the flavor and spices.

16 oz can. Pours a slightly hazy yellowish gold color. The nose is strong with yeast, a slight bubble gum, and slight citrus fruits. Comes across the palate as balanced hops and malt with slight grassyness. It has subtle finish that gradually dissipates. Very good beer.
