Commercial Description:
Like Hops? You'll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it's about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

This one’s intense - maybe too much. The hops are ridiculous, this is probably what it tastes like to chew on a hop flower.

Damn you surly, why do you put you stuff in a can. I wish i could mistake this for a macro swill and chug it for the price of those. Cracked the can, and an abundance of hops jumped straight out at me. About perfect temp at 56 degrees in my basement. Nice full head with a great aroma. Wonderful balance to it, the malt balances the hops, but they still make their way straight to the forefront of the flavor. I was worried for a second after reading the can it would have to much malt like some IPA’s tend to have. Very drinkable at 6.2%, youll never know it. Since the hops aren’t crazy high, you can drink without taking a breather from an insane amount like Two Hearted (which i love), but makes this a great beer in its own right. Permanent want list.

Can thanks to mashmaster. Pours a fairly dark copper color, hazy with a nice white head on top. Aroma is pleasant American hops of the citrus variety, Amarillo and/or Centennial perhaps. Some fairly strong malt notes are present in the background. Flavor is mildly malty, not sweet or dry, a little watery. Easy drinking. This beer reminds me of a slightly more citrusy Dale’s Pale Ale. Another good Surly beer but I don’t think this can dethrone Two Hearted from its spot as best Midwest IPA.

Thanks, Bri. Pours a clear amber with medium head that sticks around for a while. The aroma is pure citrus hops that don’t stop. The taste is dominated by citrus/nug hops, but there is a solid caramel malt backing that evens out the bitterness. This is my favorite type of IPA: one that gives you tons of hop taste, without overloading you with bitterness or sugary malts. It’s definitely a bit thin and could use some more body, but it’s tough to get a balanced session IPA with this many hops....and this one is.

Red-orange amber with great head. Profusion of Cascades assert themselves on the nose. Great raw hop presence. Flavor starts of promisingly, with Cascades, but a watery finish detracts. Solid, consistent bitter underpinning throughout. Wanted this to be better. Would try again.

A fantastic hop-lover’s IPA, poured out of the can and developed very nice white head with a orange/copper color. SMells of deep Cascade American hops with the Scottish malt as an undertone. Drinks to a strong hop taste that explodes with flavor, and balances almost perfectly to the malt at the end. One of, if not my favorite, IPAs.

Pours a hazy amber color with a foamy head that lasts a while. Great aroma of grapefruit and pine resin hops, , light sweet fruit, and a touch of toasty malt. Flavor follows along the same lines. Nice lingering dry bitter finish. Simply a fantastic IPA.
