Commercial Description:
Like Hops? You'll like this fire-hued beer. This is the beer I have always dreamed of making. This is the beer that would come to mind while spending the last two years tearing down walls, hanging sheetrock, moving kegs, power washing the ceilings, arguing with various agencies, and cutting the water main. Without Golden Promise malt, made by family-owned Simpsons Malt, Furious would just be pissed offed. From Scotland, this malt is still produced in the tradition of turning over the barley by hand, resulting in a malt that is unsurpassed in its quality. Golden Promise is also used extensively by premium whisky distilleries such as The Macallan. This malt provides the backbone for the intense hop character. Four American hop varieties are used at a rate of over three pounds per barrel. The result is a rich malt sweetness infused with bright hop flavor and aroma from beginning to end. Oh yeah, it's about 6% alcohol and around 100 IBUs.

Cans from DBhog and lb4lb, thanks guys! Poured into a standard pint glass this beer produced a nice amber hue with a long lasting 1 finger head. The aroma consisted of pine and citrus. The taste almost mirrors the smell for me. I found that the first sip is very crisp due to the hop profile and carbonation. This beer, however, finished very dry. This is an excellent IPA and should be looked out for. Well done Surly!

Cask at Day of the Living Ales, Tea-bagged version. This won the festival last year, and it was my vote this year (or at least in my top 3). It’s just a really great IPA that is really great on cask, and really awesome with the addition of the tea bagging. Remarkably round - an excellent compliment between malt and piney hops. Complex but not contrived.

Can poured into pub glass. Pour is deep amber with frothy white head. Aromas of piney hops, resin, slight fruit, and some citrus. Flavor is crisp and finishes somewhat dry. Resin, piney hops, and malt are throughout. Very nice for an IPA.

Can: Poured a orange with white head. Aroma is malty and hops. Taste is tongue lashing citrus and hops that mixed well with the malts.

Appearance: Gold and Amber Flavor: Citrus and Pine Palate: Smooth, Bitter Overall Impression: The pine and citrus flavor is very prevalant in this IPA. I enjoy the citrus flavor but the finish is a tad too much pine and bitterness.

A hazy dark copper orange ale with a thick frothy creamy light moka head. A wonderful hops aroma, resinous, with citrus and marmelade notes, some caramel. Wow! In mouth, a light malt with good citrusy c-hops, a bit lighter than expected from aroma. An excellent IPA. Gift from Piscator. Tasted with Probstk, May 26 2007.

Can. Opens with hardly a sound, no pfftt ? No carbonation ? Pours an amber with an off-white head that I forced to produce, didn’t stick around long. Aroma is citrus and pine. Flavor lacks the intensity of the aroma, subdued cirtus and pine, malt shows through more. No carbonation and just slightly bitter on the finish.
