KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 30, 2009 16 oz. can courtesy of Beerlando. Clear, copper color with a thick, frothy, white head. Tons of lacing. The aroma is out of this world. Tons of citrus hops, but there is some piney notes lurking in the shadows. Nice malt forward flavor with some subtle sweetness. This gives way to a bitter flavor with tons of sticky hop resins. Short bitter finish. Wow, what a great beer. JLAudio (282), Crestwood, Illinois, USA Jan 28, 2009 Honestly, my favorite beer...my deserted island beer. Pours a reddish hue, with tons of frothy head. Vigorous lacing clings to the glass. It has intense aromas of serious grapefruit, spice, citrus, and pine. The flavors are unbelievablely balanced, even in this unbalanced IPA, showing a strong malty forefront which melds well with the intense hop backbone...just the perfect amount of malty sweetness presence. The finish seems to last minutes on the palate, as the sting of your tongue gently fades...not to mention, it’s only 6% abv, which is a feat in itself to have so much complexity in such a small abv. BelgianBeerGal (1276), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jan 27, 2009 Crazy that this came from a can. Pours a darker orange colour with a small offwhite head and some lacing. Aroma is sweet pink grapefruit but then some pine sap in the finish. The flavour is similar with sweeter, citrus hops at first and then finishing with some stronger bitterness. Good malt backbone keeps this well balanced. Near the top end of IPAs. egajdzis (3602), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 24, 2009 Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, citrus, grapefruits, floral hops, caramel, and light toast. Taste of citrus, pine, sticky caramel resin, and grapefruit, with a dry, hoppy, light alcohol finish. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jan 23, 2009 In trade with noncaloric. Thick head. Red-amber beer. Delicious citrus alcohol aroma with hints of caramel, makes me think of a rye IPA. Thinner than expected body for high IBU. Aggressive and tasty citrus edge. An extreme beer, not your everyday pint. FunkyBrewster (437), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 20, 2009 Pours dark orange brown with a slight haze and a thick off white head. Aroma is very strong hop resin pineapple and grapefruit with a nice thick floral pine note. Some tasty caramel malt as well. Flavor starts mildly sweet with the same citrus hops and zesty fruitiness. Very strong bitter hop oils and a very fresh sort of resin flavor really give this a tasty bite that doesn’t have any astringency or unpleasantness. Medium body and moderate carbonation. This is a very good IPA. Not the best I’ve had but a really easy to drink hoppy beer. MrRain (415), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Jan 16, 2009 Thanks to DalzAles. 16oz can poured into an English pint. SF pours the color of tarnished brash with a medium-to-large head that leaves thick soap scum-like lacing. The aroma consists of hops, hops, hops, pine and grapefruit with a dash of hops thrown in for good measure. Yummy! This is a seriously nice IPA. It is dry and refreshing. The pine hops and grapefruit come out very nicely. This is a beer that lives up to its reputation. The body finish is dry and quick but a nice bitter lingering taste sticks around to remind you of the great beer you just had. Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA Jan 12, 2009 Can from tytoanderso - I mean santa. Poured deep amber orange, nice fluffy head, lots of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit citrus hops, pine hops, caramel, and some spiced hops. Very nice and complex. Taste is caramel malt, hoppy with lots of pine and citrus hop, finish is bitter resin pine hop. Mouth is full and sticky. Solid IPA and a nice change of pace from the usually over-hopped version.
