Aroma is very strong hop resin pineapple and grapefruit with a nice thick floral pine note. Some tasty caramel malt as well. Flavor starts mildly sweet with the same citrus hops and zesty fruitiness. Very strong bitter hop oils and a very fresh sort of resin flavor really give this a tasty bite that doesn’t have any astringency or unpleasantness. Medium body and moderate carbonation. This is a very good IPA. Not the best I’ve had but a really easy to drink hoppy beer. MrRain (427), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Thanks to DalzAles. 16oz can poured into an English pint. SF pours the color of tarnished brash with a medium-to-large head that leaves thick soap scum-like lacing. The aroma consists of hops, hops, hops, pine and grapefruit with a dash of hops thrown in for good measure. Yummy! This is a seriously nice IPA. It is dry and refreshing. The pine hops and grapefruit come out very nicely. This is a beer that lives up to its reputation. The body finish is dry and quick but a nice bitter lingering taste sticks around to remind you of the great beer you just had. Hank1980 (737), Athens, Georgia, USA

Poured deep amber orange, nice fluffy head, lots of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit citrus hops, pine hops, caramel, and some spiced hops. Very nice and complex. Taste is caramel malt, hoppy with lots of pine and citrus hop, finish is bitter resin pine hop. Mouth is full and sticky. Solid IPA and a nice change of pace from the usually over-hopped version. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 12, 2009 1 liter on tap. Dark, rich, Rosewood color with minimal head. Very interesting color for an IPA. Booming complex fresh hop aroma. Very oily hop resins, almost soap like but in the most appealing way. Medium malt richness gives way to a matrix of hop flavors. This beer oh so very hoppy but delicately balanced. The finish keeps reminding you of what you just drank. This rings in at over 100 IBUs but in no way does it make you pucker because the bitterness is so fresh, oily and resiny. I choose this over two hearted any day. Dark orange-brown with a thick finger of light tan head with great cathedral glass effect lacing. Citrus and pine hop aroma, thick malt in the nostrils, caramel and toffees. Taste is lots of malt, more toffee and butterscotch with a smaller than expected piney resin hop finish. brewcrew2002 (50), USA

Pours a bronze color with a medium head. Good head retention and thick lacing. Huge hop aroma with resin, citrus and herbal notes. Also some slight caramel and a milky character. Taste is very bitter hops, very leafy and resiny with some pine notes as well. Creamy mouthfeel and full bodied. Very nice.
