TaydaTot (18), Minnesota, USA Jan 12, 2009 1 liter on tap. Dark, rich, Rosewood color with minimal head. Very interesting color for an IPA. Booming complex fresh hop aroma. Very oily hop resins, almost soap like but in the most appealing way. Medium malt richness gives way to a matrix of hop flavors. This beer oh so very hoppy but delicately balanced. The finish keeps reminding you of what you just drank. This rings in at over 100 IBUs but in no way does it make you pucker because the bitterness is so fresh, oily and resiny. I choose this over two hearted any day. Bobsh (2), Rochester, Minnesota, USA does not count Jan 10, 2009 One of my favorite IPAs. Great hoppy aroma, noticeable pine and citrus flavors. Wonderful on tap! lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jan 6, 2009 Can thanks to unclemike. Dark orange-brown with a thick finger of light tan head with great cathedral glass effect lacing. Citrus and pine hop aroma, thick malt in the nostrils, caramel and toffees. Taste is lots of malt, more toffee and butterscotch with a smaller than expected piney resin hop finish. brewcrew2002 (50), USA Jan 6, 2009 Good beer overall, pours a awesome dark amber with a nice tan head, citrus and hops. really enjoyed this one. dkachur (2315), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jan 6, 2009 16 ounce can courtesy of cdumler and shared by Alraomon. Pours a bronze color with a medium head. Good head retention and thick lacing. Huge hop aroma with resin, citrus and herbal notes. Also some slight caramel and a milky character. Taste is very bitter hops, very leafy and resiny with some pine notes as well. Creamy mouthfeel and full bodied. Very nice. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Dec 28, 2008 Can from nbutler11. Very standard. Color and bite of a double IPA but without the alcohol. So I guess its unique... but if youre going down the halfway road, I would just prefer a Hop Knot. nbutler11 (729), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Dec 26, 2008 Tap at the Blue Door. Pours a dark amber color with a faint off-white head. Smells and tastes of grapefruity hops and raw sap with an elemnet of caramel. Agressive, but not as inventive as I was expecting. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Dec 22, 2008 12 oz. can from my brother. Deep orange amber with a substantial off white head and nice lace. Huge hop aroma with assertive citrus and pine, but nicely supported by a solid malty presence. Medium body and carbonation, deliciously resinous mouthfeel. Up front caramel sweetness succumbs quickly to the hop onslaught, resulting in a very dry, bitter finish that goes on and on. Among the better IPAs.
